I have been breeding Labradors since 2016 and have been successful with them. I hired a new kennel manager who has a beautiful formentina Corso girl and is interested in breeding her. I don't know much about Corsos so I came to KZbin to find some basic info to help get us up to speed and I'm really enjoying everything you are sharing. I just started following a month ago and didn't realize you had taken a hiatus so congratulations on your new arrival and we are so sorry to hear about your loss. We've been through it so many times and it never gets any easier. Hopefully the clouds of grief will dissipate soon and you and your family will be okay. You are in our thoughts and prayers and thank you for coming back. We're so excited and lo.looking forward to everything to follow.

The temperament may be an issue when we get a new breed, especially a large guardian breed. I find labs easy going and smart. I am thinking of breeding Corsos and Boxers on a small scale now I have time. Our first Corso girl is surprisingly social and sensible with other dogs at 9 months. At this stage we can take her to a dog park and the beach without having to worry that she'll get into trouble, she sticks around and checks in regularly. With people she just trots around to check them out, not to be their friend. A dream compared to Boxers. I'm expecting that as an adult she'll change quite a bit and am hoping she doesn't become anti-social and too aggressive: it will restrict our lives together. Labs are smart and so are Corsos.Boxers not so much :)

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. Still miss my cat but it gets easier with time and the baby keeps us busy! Corso breeding is a lot of work, I have a lot of information about it in older videos and have a video coming up in why I may never breed again. If she feels she can overcome those obstacles and loves the breed then she should get into it. It’s awesome that she is already working and learning from you.

Damaris is right, they’re typically social and good with people as dogs before maturity (however some aren’t even then) it’s after maturity you can see a big change and a dog that got along fine with your other dogs even in your household can have same sex aggression. However, I do think a lot plays into it like how you are with them as if you really are a good leader as long as you are around things should be fine.

So sorry to hear about Rogue. Sending you guys hugs! Happy belated birthday to Chevy. I’m glad you all are finding your footing in the country. I’m sure it has been a lot to adjust to but it sounds like you are thriving. Can’t wait to hear more! Baby Cal is such a cutie pie and Jordyn isn’t a baby anymore 😩 she’s a little girl now! Georgia says hi!!

Happy belated birthday Miss Georgia!!! Thriving is a strong word lol, more like persisting lol! Time flies and they grow up too fast! I’m sure you are already feeling that way too! Are you guys out on the east coast yet? If so we have to figure out a visit eventually!

My corso girl is 9 months, I will be very keen on your training videos. She's growing in a weird way, she seems to have grown vertically (now a couple inches taller than our boxer )and is now growing sideways QUESTION: Can you describe how your guys grew, do they put on any more height after this? Difference between your boy and girl?
@Dogdayshomestead2 жыл бұрын
So height (skeletal growth) happens until 2, sometimes a bit after, but for girls it usually is before two since they mature faster. Then from 2-3 they start to expand out and have muscular growth. I love seeing them fill out by year three. There is definitely a lanky awkward phase where they go all out of sorts and have poor looking structure but it’s usually growth in the first year. After that they will still grow but much slower to avoid any weird phases. The boys mature and grow very different than girls. They grow super fast in year one often putting on 100+ pounds over 6-9 months after they are a few months old. They really slow down just over a year and maybe put on another 10-20 lbs that year. The boys fill out a lot more if you have one with big bone and it’s crazy to see them go from skinny and lean to these big thick dogs (hopefully still a lean muscular look if they are conditioned). The girls stop growing a bit sooner and it is often less dramatic as they are typically smaller than males but there are some exceptions. Does that help?
