You need a cutting mat for the rotary cutter. The blade has gotten dull from cutting into wood. Love the dress.

What size did you choose? And how much fabric did you need? :) Great tutorial!

Thank you! I made a size L and i used around 4yds of the 45” green canvas. I think i’ll make a quilted one next but probably in XL for a bit more volume 😊✌️

Not finished watching the video yet, but just want to share what the person in my local craft shop said to me when I bought my rotary cutter. I told him I don't actually care if my old table gets ruined by cutting on it therefore I don't need the cutting mat. But then he reminded me that the blade itself gets dull and damaged much faster if you cut directly on such a hard surface like wood. So then I'd have to switch blades quite often. I got myself a small 50x70 cm self-healing cutting mat that I just slide under where I have to cut, and otherwise can be put away if not used. Maybe something like that would be useful for you if you do not yet have it? 😊
@TobiasKonrathАй бұрын
Oh yes i have a super big cutting mat too - but i never really use it and it’s somewhere stored away 😅 i don’t cut that much with the roller and it’s too big and ugly to have it permanently on my table 🤣
@baidykle1Ай бұрын
@@TobiasKonrath yeah, they're quite ugly, that's why I only bought a small one that can be put away easily 😂

Hello new subscriber here and completely new to sewing so can anyone tell me where I can find a similar fabric online? What name do I search for to find it? I think he said it was unbleached cotton but when I put that all I got was muslin fabric is that wearable I thought that was only for first draft of patterns Thank you for any help or advice 😊
@TobiasKonrathАй бұрын
Look for cotton/linen mix or go for 100% linen - the 100% cotton muslin is great for samples and toiles etc. it’s also really good to practice because it’s very easy to cut/press and sew. But usually people don’t use the unbleached type for real garments, however the one i’m using gets quite soft and drapey after you wash it and could theoretically be worn ✌️🥰

When you said you realised that the pocket bag was the wrong shape, did you mean it should extend up to the waist seam, so it can be anchored there? Always my go-to for sides-seam pockets. You can forget about carrying anything heavier than a paper handkerchief if it's not sewn into the waistband - but too much bulk with a high waist? Lovely that you put so much attention to detail in the video at every stage - with the bias binding, snipping pocket bag seams, and most of all, the pressing! Press everything, all the time! Really enjoyed the video, and the atmosphere was very calm. PS Get yourself a bodkin for putting elastic or tape into channels!

Thank you! So i had accidentally been working with the pocket pattern from my other design ( the lazy skirt) which indeed gets fixed to the waist line! 🥰✌️

Just finished yet another Lazy Pants, this time for my husband. I absolutely love the pattern and the way your present it in your video. I bought the pattern from your Etsy store and have to confess that your ebook is another favorite of mine. It's so lovingly done, quite unique, and your explanations and "tricks" easy to understand. I printed it out and just keep it as kind of reference. Before I go: Special thanks for the deep pockets!!!

Hi Tobi, Why do you french seam the inseams and crotches? And just a sidenote, you can leave a pretty big gap on your belt for insertion of the elastic so not to struggle inserting through the string hole
@TobiasKonrath3 ай бұрын
Hi Daniel, The lazy pants were initially a homework project for my fashion design students and based on french seams because the school only had 2 overlockers for 40 students 🤣✌️

I’ve added the centerback seam so i could save some fabric and didn’t have to cut it on the fold! It doesn’t change the fit ❤️
