Never tried AI. I just discovered your videos yesterday when I wanted to figure out the bookkeeping aspect of flower farming to try and decide if I wanted to take my dahlia growing into a business. Awesome stuff and I totally DONT want to be in business cause I only have my side yard to work in (can grow about 450 plants) and thats it. So, I'm still growing the plants and gifting my neighbors and occasionally selling some flowers here and there to people who pass by and ask for some. I am going to keep watching you to see if I change my mind in the future. Plus, I love your personality and your honest up front approach.

Glad to see you again. I respect your decision to take a new path. Good luck to you and your family. And by the way, thank you for all the very useful information you gave over the years. I have found it extremely helpful in the development of my flower farm. It's hard then again so is life. Take care.

I’m so glad I found your videos! I’m starting a small flower business with my 13 yr old granddaughter. Our intention is to sell bouquets from a stand on our driveway. Your videos are well done and so informative. I’ve got a better idea of what we can expect and will definitely help with expectations this year. We’re also in the PNW and I’m finding city/county/state (Ore) regulatory information difficult to first find, and then understand. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your journey and instructing others like me who really need this information. I’ll be binge-watching your additional videos!❤

Hi there..know this is a late post. But this is really the only time of the yr. that I check in. You need to follow your heart for now. As I read the other posts that were made ..it seems there's alot of us in the same boat. Mine started as just a few sunflower seeds/zinnias to go to market with in early retirement because of family illness, etc. ..etc. Anyway..I've tried several different crops1/2 acre. I have grown older..67.. and even though it's not a money maker for me, I'll do something in the field as long as I can. I was 54/55 when I started, and didn't really put in the bones of farming. Although I already had other garden areas I could gather from, too. I saw what you were doing last yr, and it was awesome. I felt bad for you that they didn't sell. I think it's great that you're trying to figure it all out..and you will. What you said about learning the ropes for now was good. If you still want to grow on..keep it simple. Focus on a few crops that do well for you.. and do as many as you can in your space. Try to break even..and if you're not going to stay where you are, I wouldn't put alot of bones in the ground. Sounds like you have a beautiful life ahead with plans..It will all fall into place somehow. Take care now.

Great video. Really helpful information about temperatures and what each plant actually needs. I once was too eager to plant basil, so put the seeds in the pot in march (too cold here for basil). Those plants never got as big as the ones planted in may, when temperature was appropriate.

Thank you for this. You definitely talked about some things I hadn't considered and will help. Could you please tell me what variety the rudbeckia is in the gorgeous bouquet at 10:27? That is an absolutely stunning bouquet. My favorite I have seen in a while.

May I recommend Orach mountain spinach. It’s very tall. Very prolific. Dusky leaves of pinkish purplish greenish leaves ( edible) with very long branches bearing millions of pink seeds!!!

where do you find the number of stems you can get per plant? You had 7 stems estimated per zinnia plant... I definitely get more stems per zinnia plant.... I think I'm confused.

I live in a cool coastal climate in which I can grow/harvest cool flowers all summer long. Warm weather flowers don't do well for me. That's why I mention it's up to you to track how each crop does in your specific growing conditions!

I started my small plant shop business three years ago. I also have a full-time job. It's tough, but I consider caring for my shop as a therapy method as plants are something I'm passionate about. It's hard work, takes a lot of time, energy, money and the profits are small. But never give up. It takes time to figure out how to keep getting better

I am just a cut flowers hobbyist, but one of the best idea i saw for tulips is growing and selling them in pots rather than as cut flowers. That way you xan have a great center piece that you can replant or just keep in the pot for next year.
