Ok let me explain a little bit about Canada knowledge compared with the neighbour. First thing identifying Canada is the stove. Secondly we have the lake that carries all st Lawrence river creatures that come from India. Thirdly we love poetry equally to the rich. Fourthly we keep the love of grandparents in the hearts and celebrate the Christmas tradition of generosity and kindness. Fifthly we built mosaic banks to keep the barrier defensively to the New Zealand enemies invading. Sixthly we don’t complain about the disadvantages carried from the family. Seventhly we don’t initiate a war that is violent or invading. Eighthly we don’t abandon our inheritances and love people. Ninthly we don’t butcher our parents even with hunger. Tenthly we don’t lie to gain advantage without honour

O Canada must be toned not flowing strings just express and forget! It’s an action that is more than agreement! The enhancement is the pole that guards the nation.

Such a fun and accomplished interpretation! I'd just read "I feel that with such a title, the Eyeglasses duo has to be played with a really playful attitude, exactly like two friends having fun, teasing each other." This viola and cello really seem to embody this spirit! Playing by heart really enables this playfulness, too. Nice. (And by the way, way faster than I'll ever be able to aspire to....)

Barry, what is with all the grey hair? Its been a while since I last saw you at your parents place in Montreal in the early to mid 70s. Your dad would pick my mom up on the way to the MSO. I was on Messenger with Douglas about a month ago. I came across this video while I was watching one of Sasha Jorba Wu whom I met at Vancouver airport last December while on my way to the Gold Coast. All the best!

I am well aware that I am far too young and simultaneously far too old to say this, but... this slaps. Honestly, this is my favorite Beethoven piece I've found so far. Thanks for the performance.

look further, his chamber music is splendid Piano Trios, Cello Sonatas, Violin sonatas, the quintets, the strong quartets. I have a theory that he composed his best works with a woman in mind, his pupils, he had good taste in women, intelligent women, cultured, beautiful, Sadly he was in the wrong class .

It appears that the two parts were recorded separately, the piano first, then the violin, as the violinist has an earpiece in her ear.

Yes, recorded separately during the very start of Covid lockdown!

I have listened to the ESO do this at Symphony under the Sky’s several times. Always my favourite. As a kid I used to listen at night to CBC classics and hear on the radio now the ESO from the Northern Albert a Jubilee Auditorium the old location they used to play at before the Windspere was built. The odd thing was living in Ottawa could go listen to the NAC Orchestra with Mario Bernardi, yet still prefer the ESO.

Wonderful piece. Great folk song by Ian and Sylvia, but Claude Lapalme's arrangement takes it to a new level. ps Lapalme is originally from Montreal, but has now lived in Alberta for 30 years. Wonder if he was drawn here by the line "Think I'll go out to Alberta, Weather's good there in the fall..."

This is the best version of this piece that I have ever heard. Motion of push and pull in the right places, lingering feelings and emotions all throughout the music, and such a well-structured well thought of approach.
