In a special presentation from our YONA Sistema program, we are proud to celebrate Black History Month with our newest KZbin video release. In honour of the first African -American woman to be recognized as a symphonic composer, Florence Price, the students and staff of YONA virtually performed together the third movement from her Symphony No. 1 in E Minor called Juba Dance. Learning and performing diverse repertoire is a commitment YONA embraces. We are proud to share this video of our very resilient YONA program that created this performance at a time when performing together was difficult due to the pandemic. Teaching unity, harmony, and mutual compassion to develop lifelong values of inclusivity and community remains the foundation YONA strives to achieve always.
