This is viewed from Dead Horse Point State Park. The road he's pointing at is Potash Road. You can get to it from Moab via Potash Road or from Canyonlands Island in the Sky via Shafer Trail.

It was such a pleasure meeting Carl Tangren and hearing him describe the end scene of Thelma and Louise. We had been searching for the exact location of the site and kept getting different stories. Just as we were setting up to photograph Dead Horse Point, Carl walked up with a tour group. He began telling the story for us. He has lived in this area his entire life and his knowledge was amazing. Thank you, Carl!

Kim Harton and I went on an Excellent Adventure in September 2014. We drove out west from Georgia and Arkansas through Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Idaho, (and many more)...pretending we were Thelma and Louise. We ended up in Moab, Utah where T&L was filmed. The famous Crash Scene at the end of the movie was filmed at Dead Horse State Park near Moab, UT. We had the good fortune to hear from Carl Tangren (83 yr. old) who was part of the film crew that filmed that famous scene. He explained in great detail how the car was sent over the cliff into the Colorado River. They used two cars to get the footage...helicopters and dive teams were on the scene to retrieve the cars from the river...SO COOL to know the 'behind the scenes' details. Enjoy.

This is barbarism! Who for the god's sake gives you the right to abuse horses? So much pain and stress the horse goes through, damaged tissues, joints and muscles!

@ScarsFromTomorrow111 жыл бұрын
Ok horse is behind the vertical and I know how you train those horses. Also he's on a fucking piece of wood and trotting in place. That's terrible on his joints. Plus his tail is swishing a lot, meaning he's agitated. Putting it up like that just helps hide it. Don't call it dancing. Dancing is expressing something by moving to music. This is people making horses do incredibly unnatural things and making them suffer due to it. People like this are an embarrassment to true equestrians.

It looks like he has soft hands, but he is actually using a high-port bit. the weight of the reins alone is enough to force the horse's nose vertical. Yes, freisians often carry their heads below the vertical, but that is a HUGE difference from being forced to hold the head like that. Besides, the fact that the head is beyond the vertical is a SYMPTOM of shortcutted training, not the sole cause for objection.
@elizabethjeanpoore504411 жыл бұрын
(cont) then pushing them forward with whip and spurs instead of spending the years needed to gradually move them onto their hindquarters naturally. The result is a stiff, tense piaffe-like movement, with harsh hind-leg movements and often a weird back-and-forth movement in the front. The "dancing" horses are very limited in their reproitare because of this- they pretty much just prance in place with very few exceptions.
@elizabethjeanpoore504411 жыл бұрын
A piaffe should be relaxed, and the horse's head should NEVER be beyond the vertical. Even with Friesians, it forces them to hallow their back and interferes with breathing. Look at the hind feet- he is trying to get his quarters under him, but the hind feet are moving in a jerky, hesitant, up and down-back movement instead of a healthy half-moon which defines a true piaffe. This is the result of short-cutting- the training consists of using a large-port bit to stop the horse,

Maybe she has soft hands cause the horse knows he'll be punished I he doesn't listen. Prancing in place on a board isn't good
@horse33211 жыл бұрын
While he is hyperflexed, the riders hands are soft and the reins have room for him to keep his head out. Friesians are known to flex on their own. You can look at them running in pastures are they will completely hyperflex.
@sophiethomas622711 жыл бұрын
Actually, it is a piaffe. Just a very cruel one.
@sophiethomas622711 жыл бұрын
Just to let everyone know, this is a VERY cruel thing to do. "Dancing" is actually a piaffe. It is hard on the horses joints and bones, causing extreme pain and early stages of arthritis. The training involved to get this horse to do this is cruel as well. This horses head is behind his vertical, making it extremely painful. I bet you these "owners" abused this horse BIG time
