Kim Harton and I went on an Excellent Adventure in September 2014. We drove out west from Georgia and Arkansas through Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Idaho, (and many more)...pretending we were Thelma and Louise. We ended up in Moab, Utah where T&L was filmed. The famous Crash Scene at the end of the movie was filmed at Dead Horse State Park near Moab, UT. We had the good fortune to hear from Carl Tangren (83 yr. old) who was part of the film crew that filmed that famous scene. He explained in great detail how the car was sent over the cliff into the Colorado River. They used two cars to get the footage...helicopters and dive teams were on the scene to retrieve the cars from the river...SO COOL to know the 'behind the scenes' details. Enjoy.

It was such a pleasure meeting Carl Tangren and hearing him describe the end scene of Thelma and Louise. We had been searching for the exact location of the site and kept getting different stories. Just as we were setting up to photograph Dead Horse Point, Carl walked up with a tour group. He began telling the story for us. He has lived in this area his entire life and his knowledge was amazing. Thank you, Carl!

This is viewed from Dead Horse Point State Park. The road he's pointing at is Potash Road. You can get to it from Moab via Potash Road or from Canyonlands Island in the Sky via Shafer Trail.
