Here’s my work around for the Pilot V.P. Get some pilot cartridges and flush them out if it’s not a color you like with your syringe and then use your syringe to refill the cartridge with a color of your choice. It works a treat

I’ve heard a few people use this work around. I do pretty much the same just with the converter. If you fill with a syringe you get waaaay more ink. And saves me buying the cartridges 🫶🏻 I have no idea why they made the converter so annoying 🤷🏻‍♀️

Great video. I’m new to fountain pens and journaling so I’ve been binge watching your videos. I have three inexpensive pens Two twsbi and one kaweco sport. What is the nib size on your vanishing point? If I don’t get the VP due to cost what pen do you recommend for using in a tiny grid planner?

Ahh welcome to the fountain pen world! And thank you for watching my videos. My VP is a fine; I had the medium at first and it was way too thick for Hobonichi grid which is 3.8. I know a lot of people like the EF but for me I like a thicker line and smoother writing experience. Hope this helps! X

Please don't use any micro mesh or other polishing/grinding materials on your 823 until you've properly diagnosed the cause of your issues. You'd be going in blind and will risk ruining an otherwise good nib. Many things can cause skipping, only some of them have anything to do with the tipping of the nib.

just a little tip for the pilot custom 823, twist open the bottom end of the pen a tiny bit when you write with it. it opens up the ink barrel to the feed and lets the ink flow through it a little more and should help with the skipping

Wow Jo beautiful pen collection ❤ I also have two TWSBIs but I have Vac Iris & Diamonds 580, mine have also been inked for months and whilst I have washed and reinked out her pens these are still going well for me. Mine are Stub nibs. When I was younger I used to live calligraphy so I started off with many stub nibs. Only in the last two years have I tried MF and F due to my sailor & platinum collection - which are also my favs. I must say in the last year I am loving 21K nibs but don’t have too many as they can get pricy. I have the same Veilio pen but mine is a zoom nib - I have the Nekoyanagi inked and it is so beautiful with the wider nib - for heading or quotes on my page. I only got my 1911 this year in the Galaxy resin and in 21K XF - WOW! It is my favourite nib, (along with Matt black F Pilot VP) it has a gentle bounce too so I can get a little variation in line width for different writing styles, but I love my Pilot VPs - I prefer F nib but have M, F, XF. My Platinum Celluloid is Sakura B-nib and it is so beautiful - usually comes out when I need a little extra self kindness. I got the Shape of Heart in M so I have a mix of nib sizes. I like my shimmer and shading inks 😜 I got the Lamy dialog CC but after the Pilot VP…. I guess I’m a snob… I will resell the Lamy. My Estie is in the botanical, I have the custom Gina nib and didn’t like it at first but the more I write with it, the smoother the nib became. I think it’s a F or M filed to a stub nib. Thank you for the inspiration to stand up for what is right for you. I was sad to hear people are coming at you, I hope those commenters are able to find the kindness within themselves. You are too lovely to be unkind to. I really appreciate your videos. If you ever want to try any of my nibs/pens, just let me know. Varsha 🫶🏽🙏🏽🙌🏾🫶🏽

Wow what a wonderful collection. I’ve never heard of a zoom nib before!! I am going to have a to research those! I’m also at the point where LAMY pens just don’t do it for me. I know lots of people say the 2000 is their favourite pen ever, but I’m not a fan of the style. Too modern for me. I’m also trying to expand my nib variety, I actually got a TWSBI eco in a stub nib to try it out for my headers and so far I am in love!! (Got a shimmer ink in there too) xx

@@Jojournals90It’s actually not too bad from SI - shipping is only $8 (heavily discounted) and tax is added on at checkout so you know what you’re paying upfront, under £130 it’s only VAT added. UK shops add tax to the Hobonichi stock so it works out similar. Don’t be put off trying out SI.

I went on Amazon and got a HON A5 in the liberty fabrics for 2024 and then ordered the liberty fabrics for 2025! I’m going to use the beginning months of the 2024 for common placing for the rest of the year :) I love going to Liberty’s in London so wanted to collect the HON liberty prints. I love the Hon too, I kinda also want an A6 to carry around but definitely need to think because I do also love the traveler’s company for that! I can see me getting both - I use the TN for venting and in depth journaling and a hobonichi weeks for health and fitness. I was considering the A6 for reading and media because I really want to increase my reading and like quotes but idk yet 🙈 I have lots of things I want to track and I need separate books for it to work for my brain so I’m sure I’d make use of them all! Maybe you could sneak a free photocopy of the starteguid at work and then be able to get both pictures, if you want to have both of them in your journal. Being tempted with things you see online is totally natural. I've also been tempted by a weeks after some videos even though I've tried the weeks and we didn't click. Usually a few nights of sleep cured me from the craving. I also didn't click with the A6 Hon, because there was no weekly overview. It's the same reason my first attempt with a BuJo didn't work because I was trying to do it the original method and that's just dailies. Without a "normal" looking monthly spread and no weekly overview I felt I had no control or idea what was happening. But this is why experimenting is important. How else can you learn what works? Thanks for lovely video. Long ones are always welcomed.

The Moomin "squiggly ghost things" are the Hattifatteners! For the TN credit card slot insert, you could try adding a small square of double sided tape just to hold it in place to your cover without damaging it. In my covers that don't have pockets I like to add the TN pocket stickers, or the stick on secretarial pocket. I usually stick these to the inside end papers of my actual book as they're stronger than the TRP.

I wasn’t that keen on that cover but now I see it in use it looks really nice. Your Pilot Vanishing Point also looks so perfect with that cover. I put the back cover of my Avec in a Codex cover then slot the back into the cover (currently using the Laurent Garigue Cousin) in the front of the Codex cover I slot another notebook or strips of paper, PET, etc that I want to use soon. But I like your idea of the TC card file for protecting my Hobonichi stencils. I’m in London so next time I am happy for you to jump in on my Hobonichi order - if you want to order directly. I did get the Yumi Kitagishi covers this year, I wasn’t that keep on the Little Gifts last year but this year I was excited.
