With the power pins it seemed like you were over driving your microphone. A definite change for sure seemed louder.

Hi. Glad to see this video 6 years after I guess... I have a moderate dent that was from the factory defect under the clear coat in the sound hole of my solid spruce top. Yes...I literately meant “in” the sound hole rim, that seems like they dented the wood with the neck clamp while laminating the neck to the body. There was no chipping , the wood did not break, it was just like a small concave surface. I guess I will just fill it up without doing any color. I wonder is the bonding strength enough for the fill n finish? Considering I have a really narrow apply surface, and I need to do all the sanding work later. I checked their website, and I found they now have two types for the clear fill n finish: standard and thin. Do you have any knowledge regarding how much more “thin” the thin type is? And how long do you need to wait for the fill to dry if you don’t use an accelerator? What else advantages do the accelerator gives other than speeding the drying process for this specific product? What is the content of this fill n finish, is it nitro based or some plastic based like poly? I had a very strong background in making hobby models (I was a professional hobby model builder for over 11 years), and I am pretty confident in my scraping and sanding skills. I used to work a lot on plastic and nitro surfaces, but I had never worked on polyurethane surfaces, are there any other tips you can give me? I’d be really thankful if you can get back to me after 6 years you created this video lol!

On gloss japanese gloss can you drop fill with just runny superglue and just leave it to level out without sanding? If used runny enough and correct amount shojld fill a dink ? Or is that stupid? Finidh still on guitar. Just for level. ? What superglue is thin enough?

I have a dent in the back of my les Paul transparent wood grain. How would I go about matching red mahoghney?
@awesomexistence5 жыл бұрын
I found at the local WOODCRAFT store some STICK FAST brand CA BLACK FLEXIBLE (already tinted black) and an activator (activator chemically reacts to instantly harden CA). Used a similar technique only I added 3 steps of sandpaper to 3000 grit (local HD store-)adding 4000 would be better but wasn’t available. At this finish it is approaching a gloss finish. Finished it with automobile polish compound applied by hand on a cotton cloth and this brought it to life matching the black high gloss finish. You have to catch a light reflecting directly from the repair to distinguish the very slight difference of the CA fill.

I hear a buzzy sort of characteristic once the Power Pins are installed. It is possible that you are playing harder/with more force, causing the strings to buzz slightly.

Great video. I used your method on a guitar and it worked great. Do you think it would work on a scratch on a car finish? Seems like it would...just not sure the super glue would hold up being exposed to sunlight, rain, etc.

Same here. I'm a ham-fisted pounder (and old, so I'm probably not gonna change my ways much now :-) and I break at least one string (usually a G, D or even A) on a gig. These would make changing a string while telling a story so fast and easy!

Is this not CA glue? Because cotton(Q-tip) and CA is a disaster waiting to happen, it can combust and catch fire, and the fumes from the CA coming off the cotton is just nasty IME.
@zepdude38678 жыл бұрын
+higler420 Yes it's CA and yes a Q-Tip..of course depending on the humidity it will cure and fume off, I have been using CA's for 30 years so I know when to stop the application. saw dust and CA does the same as well, so it's a tricky job to do.

I was asked about added mass of the power pins to the sound, they are really light,(the box they come in is heavier...) and since it changes the loading to top loading , the mass/weight doesn't deaden the sound too my ears at all.

How do you fix sand threw i had a very scratched guitar and wet sanded it with 1500 its a black stain as you can just make out the grain however i went threw on the horns a little and its almost looks like a clear than the dye and than clear/polly over that. Can the sand threw be fixed or would i have too sand it down too wood and restain it
@zepdude38678 жыл бұрын
+DragonRoLo Those are tricky for now I would use a perm marker to get close to color, then quik seal with CA. lite sand, and repeat.

Hi Zepdude- I did definitely notice a difference between "before" and "after", but I also noticed that the audio for both samples sounded very compressed. Does your camcorder mic have some sort of "auto leveling" i.e. compression feature? For my money I found the compression artifacts a little distracting and difficult to hear through.
@zepdude38679 жыл бұрын
Jon Gordon Hi Jon, good question. its a $199 canon I don't have it any more but I looked up the PDF and couldn't find any compression...or auto leveling.. But it very could of had that built in.. Thanx
@zepdude38679 жыл бұрын
BTW all you are hearing is a cheap $199 Canon camera Mic...what I used for the video. Done on purpose.....I knew I would get slammed for doctoring the sound.. Peace
