What a surreal experience for everyone involved. The civilians (most likely) have no idea that those two men could be seriously injured but are just so “high” (on adrenaline) that they don’t even know it. Like a LE officer that only learns much later that he has been shot. Two extremes commingling and both sides have hardly any understanding of what the other is experiencing at that moment. The pilots most likely are thinking about if their careers are in jeopardy (or over)… The pilots are thinking about if they just inadvertently killed anyone… The pilots are thankful to be alive and are lucky and they most likely know it. The civilians… BEST DAY EVER. All smiles. Here let me get a selfie and tell you about how you crashed… and the parachutes… and how that smoke is from the crash…

Quite honestly. It should be common sense to NOT approach fighter pilots after ejecting. Yes, I know you would feel concerned over their safety, but you’re putting them on their nerves because for them, you might be a hostile… just leave them there and call authorities FROM AFAR to pick them up.

Good that they survived the incident. Back in 1973 (yr ?), during the war in Vietnam, I was a Navy corpsman (medic), training with the Marines on Pohakuloa, Hawaii. One night, we received 2 Marine pilots who were rescued from a crash of their F4 Phantom in the Pacific. Apparently, the aircraft got stuck in a banking turn. We were the nearest medical facility. Those guys were so scared and high on adrenaline, they were shaking and chattering incessantly from the near-death experience. The Navy doctor administered high doses of thorazine to bring them down and ordered a close watch on them overnight. They didn't sleep and were still shaky the next day when they got medevaced. I don't know if they ever flew again.

That is why they train so rigorously.Shit happens during a flight.They could care less what others see or are thinking.They and others are alive because of their situational awareness and skill as trained professionals. Thank you to the maintenance and systems crew that ensured the ejection system actually worked properly and subsequently saving the lives of these two good men. Definitely a stressful few minutes trying to relight and decide if gliding will work - mixed with physical trauma of the ejection. Thanks for the upload, cheers
