Which jet did you drill out? If the engine was surging at idle, you would need to drill out the idle jet that's below the screw.
@billyb3513 күн бұрын
No, you would drill the main jet. Doesn't take much.

This was a very thorough resurrection job, and well presented. If it sells, the new owners will have found a decent one. I see that a basic 24" Troy Bilt 2 stage sells for $ 999 at our local Home Depot. It has a larger 208cc engine, but still has the plastic, not metal, chute. If someone sees it and really needs it, there should be a nice profit in it.

I have a similar blower branded troybilt. Might be a year or two newer. It has been flawless. I installed an impeller kit immediately. It has been impressive! Just like anything else maintenance is key. The only time mine wouldn't start was when the key wasn't pushed in all the way! Lol my bad

I have been resurrecting side of the road/free snowblowers, mowers, weedwhackers, etc for yrs now. Never have I come across one in that pristine condition
@billyb35110 күн бұрын
It was in great condition. But I can understand how that is in my area. Snowblowers don't get a ton of use in this area because it doesn't snow a whole lot generally.
@garyrussell-o4i10 күн бұрын
@billyb351 I'm in the Northeast so they see a lot of use. Nevermind the icemelt/salt that gets thrown down. That stuff takes its toll on the auger housing, auger , etc
@billyb3519 күн бұрын
I'm in the mid-Atlantic and we see occasional snow and rarely heavy snow, so snowblowers are fairly common, but get infrequent use. We see more ice/slush than anything else. The salt is the worst. They use copious amount of salt here. They don't really plow. Anything that comes down they try and deal with using salt alone, even if it's 8 inches of snow. Cars, snowblowers, basically anything outside when there is frozen precipitation rusts quite fast.

If painting, will it be wise to put an air dryer system on the second tank as air comes out or between both tanks?
@billyb35118 күн бұрын
For painting, yeah I would think about an air drying system especially if the gun was high flow and/or you want a super high quality finish. For occasional painting where you're not looking for the best ultra high quality finish I may not bother. I find that I only get a lot of water in the air coming out in the middle of summer when it's super hot and very very humid. Other times of the year I get nearly zero water mist.

Question when second tank fills up will first tank stop pumping from pressure
@billyb35118 күн бұрын
Yes, there is no regulator or restriction between the two tanks so the pressure is the same in both. The motor will stop pumping when the pressure reaches its normal cutoff point.

I cleaned mine on my generator yesterday morning the inside of the carburetor looks pretty good it runs about 300 hours a month in the winter time around 150 hours a month in the summer it's missing a little bit change spark plug didn't help neither did cleaning the carburetor Amazon had another one for $35 I think it's the better way to go takes a lot of time to tear those generators down just to get the carburetor off so now I have to tear it down again

Raise the bed up it's easier
@billyb3512 ай бұрын
I seriously considered doing that. But after taking a hard long realistic look at that I decided against it because all those bolts were way more rusted than the strap bolts. I figured I'd be cutting either the bed or the tank off so I opted for the tank because I could get it inside and work on the retaining ring easier as well as get all the gas out and clean the inside of the tank.

this hitachi/tanaka blower is the original version, has 2 separate grommet holes in gas tank. a newer version came out with a single grommet version, that shares 2 fuel lines inside same grommet. learned from a parts page that the manufacturing change came in summer of 2014. the 2 grommet hole gas tank design was in production up to july 2014. august 2014 started the new single grommet tank design.

There is a diode test position on your digital multimeter. A good diode will show open circuit in one direction and about 0.6 volts in the other direction. Two failure modes are possible in theory. You found one with the 200 Ohm range resistance test...that was a short circuit. I am not certain if a diode would ever fail as an open circuit but if so the diode test function might show that when the resistance test will not.

on the yellow return line, mine is OREGON 07-263, SIZE .080 X .140 , not sure if this is correct size as its probably not OEM hitachi/tanaka fuel line. it fits a little loose in the return tank grommet. ill try this larger size fuel line and see if it tightens up the fit a bit. the existing fuel line causes bubbling and leaking around the grommet. i picked up the blower for free on craigslist 3 years ago, so hard to complain when im just now having problems and need to replace fuel lines, etc.
@jeffreyedelmann27113 ай бұрын
Great video, Wild Bill, and thank you! I see the model you have has the two different size grommets (one big, one small) on the fuel tank like my RB24EAP. I believe similar ones (or another variant) has a single two-line grommet for the tank. All the replacements I see online have the single two-line grommet, or I see 2-pack aftermarket grommets that look like the small one but there doesn't seem to be the bigger one anywhere to be found. Do you have a source or link for the replacement grommets like the one in your video? Thanks for any help with this!

was just watching your ( clean the carb) Vid and came here while resisting the urge to pull my hair out trying to get the emulsifier tube out of this exact same Carb. I noticed that when yo held the jet up in that last video ( I had removed mine as well) that the hole you were digging into was WAY bigger in that vid than mine here in person. ( I am literally doing this right now by the way ) You had stated someone has already been in that carb. I think that " sombody" already bored that jet, the reason being that mine is tiny even after cleaning, Yours was probably 2x's the size of mine ( I also have the green crud.) <-- What the hell is that? It;s Growing IN GAS! anyway, I have a lot more green crud than you did. it;s even growing on the plastic float in spots. OMG I just got the emulsifier tube out! I was about to order a whole new carb off ebay. Grr, I had to take the Choke flap out ( Shiny one) and run a screw driver thru the carb tub and then with a sht ton of might and both hands force the driver shaft on the top of that emulsifier down it went flat and was STILL STUCK! Grr. I didn't have a pick like you had, I ran a brass wire up thru the middle just barley above the edge of the emulsifier tube lip and then bent it over ( painstakingly ) and then pulled the whole thing out. I am wondering now if the emulsifier holes on yours were also bored out a bit. I wonder because mine are super small like the jet tube hole. They are so small that a Chinese bread tie wire with the paper removed will just barley fit in there. ( I know it;s Chinese, it;s from wal mart twist tie bags. The good ones will not fit at all. LOL I am putting an inline filter in this,it clogs way too easy. I bought a Tecumseh powered troy built recently (pretty sure I wil need it soon ) got the same problems with that, I will check out other vids of yours , Not sure what all you have yet/ These two vids are real good. Thanks from Idaho. :0)

WB, Nice work and a good video! I don't know how old that machine is, but seeing all that metal in the oil makes me wonder: Had the oil ever been changed? I know it's a lite-weight, cheap mower, but watching you mow that strip made me realize that a small, short, lite machine comes in handy for mowing around obstacles like the fire hydrant. (My Honda weight 60+ pounds and is l-o-n-g; not maneuverable like the one in your video.) Again, nice work -- and thanks! Did you end up replacing the clean cover and filter . . . or was it not worth it? (Just curious) Regards, -- Old Matt
@billyb3513 ай бұрын
I don't think the oil had ever been changed. Usually people don't bother especially when it's so difficult. It's virtually impossible to get the oil in or out of that without some kind of mess. I did end up ordering a cleaner and cover for it. It's a very light mower. The whole thing can't be more than 35 lbs. or so. About the weight of a bicycle. If it was a mulcher and had height adjustment it would be really great.
