The problem is many of Elvis’ songs were so great that the movie songs pale in comparison. But if you step back and compare those movie songs with some other songs from around the same time period that were actually hits, you’ll realize they weren’t that bad. However, there are a few songs that sound like they were sped up, making Elvis sound like a chipmunk. Not sure what happened there, but if you slow them down so Elvis sounds like himself, they’re not bad either.

Yeah such a narrow perspective of what makes Elvis amazing. Sort of a snobby perspective IMHO

I Loved all his specials on TV and especially Elvis That's The Way It Is movie, my favorite, and Elvis On Tour. The 70's are so under estimated.

I so agree with your assessment-Elvis was actually great to the very end-I mean one of his best versions of “How Great Thou Art” was during his last professionally recorded concert. Was he struggling with his health-yes, but he was still wonderful-his voice was still gold, and his smile, humor and charisma was all there. I also got into Elvis through his films and loved them. He had such great comedic timing and his singing Old MacDonald showed that he was so talented he could sing anything! I agree that they really got it wrong when they said this was the last great Elvis performance --this was a Comeback and he did great songs and GREAT performances after this special.

I agree with you . I have memories connected to every film. I did watch that film when it was first released and I enjoyed it. But I was very young at the time. But it was the only opportunity we had to see Elvis.

Awesome show EA enjoyed it tremendously. Brent u r right this special didn’t bring anything really new to the Elvis fan but I never liked how they don’t give credit to Elvis on his movies. He did an incredible job on those movies. He was an amazing comedian and dramatic actor. Maybe he did get upset with the scripts but the joy and laughter he still brings to everyone to this day. The 68 Special was not Elvis last hoorah he was so proud of EOT and TTWII why do people miss this? He even won a Golden Globe for EOT come on now 🙄 so frustrating. He even won an award for Tickle Me im done now cuz I’m gonna go on a rant 🤣🤣 TCB⚡️
