Beautifully put Brent. You have said what many of us feel. Lisa lost her dad that was devastating and changed her life forever and worse was to come. But it never stopped her from being a loving mother to her children. RIP Lisa Marie.

That really shined through -- I believe had Lisa Marie been a narcissist instead of an empath, she might have gone that dark path, but her love was pure. Probably too pure for this dark place.

Beautiful and heartfelt review. Lisa Marie was beautiful, talented and amazing. Although she had many happy times she lived through many sad and horrific episodes in her life as well. I think like Elvis she lived for as long as she could, she was so like him. Riley has done a great job in telling her mother's story with honesty and grace. Thank you too for your wonderful channel and always telling Elvis' story through his music.❤

Janet, not that I advocate people dying young, but I do think sometimes there are people that generate more energy than others and like those kind of stars, they illuminate but then dim quicker than others...

It doesn’t matter how Lisa Marie was brought up or what kind of personality she had. The bottom line is that she had a narcissistic monster for a mother.

Well said. I listened to the whole book in one evening too. The part about Ben got to me the most I think. Riley is a very poetic writer I thought.

Thanks, Kirsty. Still "feeling" the book. It was so utterly heartbreaking with what happened to Ben. Riley has an "authentic voice." Even when she would describe her idyllic moments under the stars and how she once described the sunlight peering through the crenellations -- it stuck out to me. And she did it right by sprinkling those bits throughout the book and not overkill.

@@elvisnationofficial for sure. I think the Ben part touched me most of all because I can relate to that. I know what it's like to feel that low, it's uncomfortable to talk about and you don't want to be a burden so you keep it inside and feel trapped and it just escalates. My heart goes out to him 💔

Oh Brent…beautifully said. My only mistake was I listened to the audiobook at bedtime. It affected me so emotionally that I’d wake up during the night in tears with some sad dreams. I agree, her actual voice brought me upright and lent such an additional level of emotion. It didn’t leave me through the night and most of the following day. Her unconditional love for Elvis and vice versa was so touching because she needed that love and when it abruptly ended, it changed her. It seemed she needed to feel safe again and that was at Graceland. I’m not going into specifics for those who haven’t finished it but it’s not an easy read to shake. Some of the things she had to deal with and she was just a child were so raw and gut wrenching I found myself having to take a short break before I could go on. It showed what a beautiful soul and spirit she had to keep trying. Your review was so touching and I thank you for sharing it Brent. An easy read, it is not and may they RIP… for dealing with that type of fame that is so iconic must at times be so exhausting just trying to figure out who you are. 😢💔🥹❤️

I cannot tell you how pleased I am that you're NOT one of those slobbering Elvis fans that grab hold of everything Elvis related, and worship it! I've been a fan for over 60 years, but not a fan of EVERYTHING he did, sang, said, etc. I don't slobber. I listened to the book non-stop, as well. It was extremely well done, but terribly heavy. Depressing. Sad. Imo, her parents didn't give her a solid foundation to grow on. They gave her a "boat" with holes in it, and no rudder. Their own "boats" had holes, and I don't think they had rudders either. I think Priscilla tried, but, come on, Scientology is a crock. I'll continue to be a fan, but I'll never listen to the book again. I also refuse to watch the 'Elvis' movie a second time, even though I own it. Very sad life stories! Thank you for being REAL! And, Riley did a very good job finishing her mother's story.

What is left out is that Priscilla put her 10 year old daughter in the cult of Scientology and left her for months. She was shipped from Scientology centers all of the country. While Lisa stayed there her mother was fronting Graceland with partner Barry Segal. Priscilla was making almost a million a year, and he was making a half a million a year, all Lisa's momey. When Lisa came of age, 25 she sued her mother and segal to retrieve some of the 13 million of her inheritance. She finally got about half back. You have to listen to how the cult brainwashed Lisa, see a young man named Serge DelMar ( No more kids in Scientology) he was in the cult when Lisa was and he knew Riley and Ben, all put in the cult as children. To get the full impact of Lisa's awful times and all from her mother, who is a liar a fraud and one who stole from Elvis and his family

@@loriej4504 Elvis spent more on charities and other people than himself. Lisa herself was very generous and always helping people. Seeing that Lisa lost her money because her manager invested wrong, it would be great if the money from her book goes to her children. Priscilla and Michael Lockwood already have each a huge slice of the money she had left her children. Just hope and pray fervently that they will not get more or gain control, eg Michael Lockwood who is the father of the twins.

I’m not a fan of Riley’s work don’t shoot me! Just not my cup of tea I’ve tried watching some of her work just can’t get into it but has absolutely nothing to do with Riley personally. Brent u know I’m always honest and I never follow the crowd because everyone says go to the left or go to the right. I don’t collect Elvis books I find them gossipy and frankly they piss me off lol. This book is a tragedy and I can’t believe Priscilla has the nerve to show her face at an Elvis function after this release I bet she probably hasn’t even read the book 🙄. Anywho I’m like u I’ve never read her book or Charlie’s or anyone else’s not really interested. Except for Leslie and the 68’ comeback special book that’s about it for my collection. This book was an emotional roller coaster I laughed I cried and everything in between. I can picture Elvis chasing the mouse 🤣 as I can picture him hanging up the phone crying cuz little girl can’t stay at Graceland. Just pulls at your soul he was not perfect by any means but he was her daddy he loved her unconditionally that we know. A southern dad to the core lol marshmallow inside and trying to be tough outside my dad was like that haha. Truly enjoy all your reviews because u r always fair and elegant in your style and opinion. Thanks. We all have differing tastes. If Riley's in a movie that appeals to me, I'll watch it, but I don't strictly procure every title that lists her as a cast member. Some do, and that's cool too. Thanks for bleeding your thoughts on the comment section, always nice to hear from you, my friend.

I am an Elvis fan 💯 percent, however, I was shocked by the Michael Edwards thing. Believe both Edwards and that witch priscilla should be brought up on charges. However, another thing that shocked me and hurt me was when Lisa spoke about having sex for the first time. That's not the problem it's that she said priscilla wagner beaulieu had sex with Elvis when she was 18 years old( again nothing wrong with that legal age). It's that I believed priscilla wagner beaulieu was supposed to be a virgin when she married Elvis, on the 1st of May 1967 making Priscilla over 21 years of age. Another lie from the liar Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu. How come Elvis fans and whoever read the book are not mentioning this fact? Again I am an Elvis fan and Elvis broke no law?
