This film is based on the novel By Charles Webb which I found similar to "The Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger. To me The last shot on the bus in reminiscent of the painting "American Gothic. I also Notice the deep sea diver in the Aquarium in Bens room and then the shot of him with the diver outfit in the pool. He sees his life as being a decorative status object for the society that he is a part of. One that he was born into. He IS the toy in the aquarium. For all of the Characters in the film the "societal software" is built in (Windows Post War WASP America 2.0) And a "slight rebellion off Madison" or in Bens situation an out of boredom affair with an older woman who is also bored will never alter the software that was originally installed. I think those stares at the end of the film are both Elain and Ben realizing "We are going to be just like our parents!". Result 50 years on? the response from youth that are even More materialistic and status seeking as preached by Madison Avenue: "Okay Boomer!" *(J.D. Salinger's short story that introduced the Holden Caulfield Character, Madison Avenue being apposite as the representative of post war Materialism and the Pursuit of Status and fulfillment by obtaining said products marketed to the nation by advertising firms on that Avenue.

You alway point out how a statist belief is unjustified, but always fail to explore whether the ideas you are presenting can be justified. An political theory of anarchism needs to be objective. Other political organizational principals can rely on monopoly of violence. Anarchism in order replace the state needs to be grounded in reason so that dispute resolution can be decentralized.

Kinda wonder, much like Ben Shapiro ripping on Hollywood because he couldn't "make it," if this guy is similarly ripping on the art world with similar motivation 🤔

Partly I find myself attracted to this kind of art because it's interesting. Normal art, while no doubt well executed, is often boring. Beksinski's art in particular gives a view of the world that, while undoubtedly stemming from his internal vision and from his life, is definitely not boring.

It's interesting the influence of Picasso and other contemporary artists in Paris at the time , influenced Mondrian.

Nicely done young man, articulate and honest assessment of the subject matter, I do hope many many humans watch it and pass it on. Far to many 'tools' in this world don't even realise they are their own worst enemy. Viva la revolution!!!👊👊

All too familiar. Artist has avant-garde uncompromising aesthetic vision, sets out to 'shock the bourgeoisie', succumbs to totalitarian collectivist ideology thinking they're part of the new elite, is forced to either water down their art by convention into kitsch and propaganda, or they get purged. Socialism, fascism, it's always the same story.

Been to Francis bacons art gallery in Dublin about 20 times. At first i felt his art was very “edgy” I didn’t get it. But the older I got the more I wanted to keep going back. To me I find the brutality is his art beautiful. I’ve seen the screaming pope up close in person and my god it entraps you.

An artists eye is individual and unique. They show us things we can never imagine and some things we don't want to see it can simply be a carnival performer or the clown may represent many things to the human psyche. Rejoice in the artists gift and relish the million possibilities!

So the only real difference between Marxism and Anarchism is that Marx believed that Anarchy would happen after the state simply fades away over time and Anarchists believe that the state must be brought down initially?
