I just bought sample bundles of milk paint, metallics and mica powders. I'm not sure many will want to buy furniture that looks like it needs a paint job. I'm going to try it on something small first and see how it goes. Is there a market for this type of furniture? I basically bought the products to do venetian plaster stencil mural art of my wall.

I dunno what kind of acrylics she's used but I've ingested artist acrylic (by accident) and nothing happened. I wonder if she's using some weird hybrid. I also don't know what kind of chalk paint she's using but the kind I have used (rustoleum chalked) will come off with a fingernail unless you top coat it.

I was about to say. I use acrylic paint for my art - dunno what she’s talking about. I think she’s just promoting chalk paint.

The best tip I got, was that I can "forget" about this type off upgrade, as it will be placed over old vinyl. Paint it will be. ;)

It looks amazing, such a transformation. A little tip if you ever stencil again…always do the first coat in the same colour as the floor that way when you put the top colour on it won’t bleed through the stencil and you’ll have crisp lines.

That fuzzy part of the wallpaper is a backing of the wallpaper. Just saying. Wallpaper unless it’s a vinyl paper Always has a backing. So it’s like taking two layers of paper off . Also it’s way easier to remove old wallpaper, with a garden sprayer, and diff. Or just warm water. Spraying it and letting it soak in saves a ton of time. Then you can remove the old paste as well. But I’m watching because I don’t install peel and stick in my daily wallpaper job. But I have had to do several jobs lately with this type. I could scream. But I’ll glad you’re trying to show people how to do this. Thank you! 🙏

I would love to try Amy Howard products but just can't afford to purchase them at the moment. Milk paint gives a gorgeous finish, however, I did hear you say it's a finish that can't be achieved with Chalk Paint. That's definitely not the case, I do Old World finishes primarily on my pieces and you can absolutely obtain texture, cracks and that authentic aged look. It's simply a matter of knowing how. You don't even have to (though sometimes it's fun and creates an amazing result) to purchase texture mediums or crackle mediums to be able to get that effect. It can all be done with the paint alone, depending on your brand and application. Annie Sloan, DIY, APC, Daydream, and Nordic Chic all work well for this. That said, I'd still love to play around with AH products if I ever get the chance. Great tutorial, and thank you for sharing.

Just playing with some milk paint today. I was making the cracked gesso way to thin, I guess. Mine wasn't cracking at all. I've watched several of her video's (Amy's) and I like the thicker. I'll also have to try the mind your bee's wax, I have the antiquing one and sometimes it makes it darker than I want. Glad to see I can just paint over a wood piece without removing the finish. I thought we had to do that first. Looking forward to more videos.

Thank you so much for making a video of this! I've been searching everywhere and finally found the link through Pinterest. Ah, Pinterest, you have everything! Hahaha! 😄 So, we had a Shar Pei when I was younger who was really neurotic. I guess he accidentally locked himself in my room while we were all gone and ate a hole through my door! Like, a BIG one! No idea how he accomplished that in a period of a few hours, but he did! Granted, it wasn't a solid wood door, but still... there was little evidence other than the hole so eat definitely straight up ATE it!😨😱🤢🤣

Totally wrong unfortunately.. All pigmented water based paints are either latex or emulsions (meaning solids or oil dispersed in water). Regardless of that, paints labeled as "Latex" are for interior use, and Acrylics are for exterior use. There is no particular reason for this. It's just something that has stuck. Chalk paints can be either Latex or Acrylic. Chalk is added to the paint making it easy to sand.

What do you clean kitchen cabinets with before using chalk paint? I just painted several items with Annie Sloan paint. They came out great! So I moved on to my kitchen table today and plan on doing kitchen cabinets next. The kitchen table had areas that bled through some brown spots. I thoroughly scrubbed with dawn and then afterwards with Mrs. Meyers all purpose spray. It worked well on my other items, but I"m guessing it is because it is the kitchen and stuff I couldn't see deeper in the wood. Don't know...But now super nervous to do the cabinets because unlike the table, I won't distress them or do a stain/glaze. I want them just fresh paint look.
@revive-up-cycledheartup-cy381
@revive-up-cycledheartup-cy381 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question.! So you should always clean with clean slate before you paint so it adheres well for the long haul otherwise it might chip or peel off down the road. As for bleed… that’s an entirely different problem. I have a whole video on it through 🙌🏻 I’ll post it to this message but generally you need to 1) clean it 2) out down a layer of chalk paint 3) then a layer of SHELLAC based primer (this seals the tannins in the wood so it doesn’t bleed though) then 4) another layer of chalk paint. 5) seal with wax or matte sealer

White vinegar twice woud do the same job I reckon, plus it's probably massively more economical and environmentally friendlier.

Yes it likely is more economical it I haven’t had the same results with vinegar. It’s what I used when I first started along with TSP. I like clean slate results the best, but if it works for you, more power to ya 😉

I would be so ever grateful for ideas utilizing old dresser drawers that are sturdy, wide and deep as a seat with a lift top for storage adding repurposed white spindle legs from an old eating table, and a unique wooden back like this one. I found the wooden table legs at the curb for trash pick up. My thoughts are to cut them down the appropriate length to attach underneath the drawer. Am i making any sense to you?
