Great. One thing though, I find those Camper Pantry meals can be expensive so I buy similar meals from Woolies or Coles like Maggi or Continental that are around $3 each

this place is touristy.. i am so shocked at how much the government is trying to develop this wilderness. a cable car and $41 million dollars of infrastructure? just dont do it. keep these places serene and peaceful, like lake st clair, lake pedder, or melelauca

Great description of area I frequented numerous times in the mid 1970s when we were able to pitch tents at will including cooking fires. Not overly impressed with all the new infrastructure but unfortunately necessary with all loved to death remote areas. 😊
@UltralightHiker Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. All the new boardwalks help keep people off the pristine environment and the platforms force you to stay in the one area, not spread out all over the place. Back in the 70's when you were able to pitch tents anywhere and have fires nobody really knew about the Walls. Arrhh the age of the internet has changed so many places. It's all about people management now and I think Parks are doing a great job.

Thanks for the video. Good to see what Dixon's Kingdom looks like now. I too have a Durston Pro as well as a Duplex. Tent platform designers had no regard for us non free standing tent owners. Looks like we need an engineering degree to set up. At least with the wood platforms we could cheat and use cup hooks. I think next time I venture to the Walls I'll pitch my tent on ground. Good luck with your store. It's very convenient for people living in Melbourne

I spoke to the ranger who designed them and he mentioned they were not designed for trekking pole tents. Bit sad but with a few nifty bits of rope tying anything is possible
@magpiecollingwood9116 Жыл бұрын
@Ultralight Hiker That's not good. There's definitely an upward trend in ultralight trekking pole tents. Why would hikers opt for much heavier gear ? ( except for price ) It will force some off those platforms. And trekking pole tents do stand up in storms. My Duplex withstood 90kph winds at the Prom and I slept well.
@UltralightHiker Жыл бұрын
@@magpiecollingwood9116 We've got the 3F UL Lanshan 2 in store for a great low price of $289. It's a brilliant trekking pole tent and the reviews of it in the wind are excellent. Most trekking pole tents like the Durston are getting amazing reviews for their performance even in Australian conditions.
