Cycling with ear phones is about as stupid as you can get because you won't hear danger - plus under taking other cyclists is dangerous and illegal. Why are these mad cyclists in such a hurry - do they have a death wish because one day their hurry and lack of road sense will hit them badly.

That has to be one of the closest, if not the closest I've ever seen or personally experienced. Clearly you cycle a great deal from how calm you stayed. You HAVE to report to the police if only for the less experienced cyclists out there who might end up under someones wheels.

What surprises me is when being overtaken by a faster vehicle cyclists don't have the gumption to fall back, for some reason they are determined to keep up to speed and keep up with said overtaking vehicle, why put yourself into such a position of danger?

You should have given way to the van on this occasion. His indicator was visible long enough for you to react and positionally, he was also ahead of you on the road.

What on earth are you riding on? Van driver should have looked, sadly there does not seem to be any clarity on that sort of thing as both parties can say they are in the right, the van was in the wrong though, he should have stopped.

What bike am I riding? Pretty normal titanium framed bike. The flat thing you can see in the video is my Garmin edge which is just in front of the camera.

I've just seen another left hook video where the driver overtuck and turned straight away, it was 100% the drivers fault. A more fitting description for this one though is, cyclist undertaking, positioning in a vans blind spot, then getting surprised when the van turns after indicating to do so. Rather than publishing the reg etc and trying to create conflict between drivers and cyclists you should look at how you can improve your own road use.

@@bigblokeonabike ok, maybe you wasn't surprised but it's 1 of 2 things. 1. Poor planning, poor judgement and poor awareness leading to you being surprised . 2. You knew you were in his blind spot, knew he was turning and still got that close on purpose to create an incident so you have a video to post on KZbin to pit drivers and cyclists against each other. So, is it option 1 or option 2?

@@bigblokeonabike do you realise vehicles especially ones like this have blind spots? Yes he should do a better job of checking but we share roads, and you made things needlessly more difficult by going in the blind spot. I'd have judged by the speed there was a chance it was going to turn and would have been ready, I wouldn't have got that close and I wouldn't use it as an excuse for content online. This should have been a non issue, you made it one. Undertaking shouldn't be allowed due to this reason, people like yourself think it means they don't need to show consideration for others.

Support Baroness McIntosh in her efforts to increase fines for cyclists who break the law. She wants £150 for jumping a red light and other increases. Cyclists breaking the rules of the road is becoming a serious problem now.

@@bigblokeonabike M.I.B ( motor insurance bureau) now saying damage to cars in cities caused by cyclists on the rise. Scratches ( deep scratches needing body shop repair) and other vehicle damage now increasing. From my own experience I had a cyclist on a Whyte cycle jump a red light and crash into the side of my car. He broke the powered drivers door mirror , cracked the windscreen and then tried to clear off after doing it without leaving details. His big mistake was thinking I was driving a RHD car so he tried to escape left. However I was in a LHD car and caught the scumbag. 40 year old man wearing lycra and helmet with earphone in and wearing sunglasses . He tries to clear off after causing damage amounting to £642 parts and £322 Labour. Mercedes parts are not cheap and I dont pay insurance to cover his uninsured arse! He tried to escape but I had hold of his bike.....and I wasnt going to let it go.
