It looks good, I've never tried their premium economy only economy and business few time (used those upgrades at check in), but it looks nice, but for me personally I would take a seat in second or third row, not the first one, kinda feel like you have 0 privacy, but I'm only 172 tall so really even economy leg room is totally fine for me. Nice report.

Great video. Do you get off airside in ORD? Wondering if you have a connecting flight do you need to redo TSA at ORD? Also, how's TSA at LAF? They're only getting like a dozen or so passengers everyday I guess.
@Danielator36Ай бұрын
Yes, you do! Southern flies in and out of gate F4, so you end up airside right between the United and American terminals. No need to go through TSA again- and assuming you buy all your flights in one ticket, checked bags automatically transfer to the partner airline. TSA at LAF usually takes ~5 minutes max. They open the checkpoint just before the flight, and you board right after TSA. Despite the small size, they do also offer pre-check.

A delay on a sleeper train, is just extra free hours in a private hotel room, with a view. As long as I am fed and watered, I'm happy! I hope I can get a 17 hour trip with a 20 hour delay! The shower head might have been better if it was tightened, half the water was leaking out.

I post this in every long-distance Amtrak video. Always bring some extra snacks and drinks, especially if you're in coach, as the selection on board is limited and expensive and they can run out, and definitely a meal or two if you're in coach, for the same reasons. If it's an overnight trip and you're in coach, bring a blanket and pillow, and either way also ear plugs and an eye mask if you intend to sleep. Flip flops or slides are also useful if you want to remove your shoes, and especially if you have a sleeper and want to take a shower. Also, the usual things to pass the time, books, laptop, tablet, music, headphones, etc. But most people already know that.

I took the Cardinal over 30 years ago and it was indeed worth it, probably Amtrak's most scenic eastern route. I went from Chicago to NYC, which is the only direction I'd consider between these two cities given the very early departure on the west-bound train. It would take us over an hour to get to Penn Station which means getting up at a ridiculous hour and being groggy and miserable all day, even with a sleeper. That said, I'd love to take it again. I took it in early winter, with short daylight hours and most plants leafless and dormant. I can only imagine how much nicer it would be in spring through fall. I had a roomette, which I think is essential on an overnight trip of this length. Back then they had real dining cars and properly cooked meals. Hopefully they'll bring that back to all long distance east coast routes. I actually did some quick checking on Amtrak's web site and it's possible to book a room part of the way, to save some money, since even the cheapest rooms are expensive on Amtrak. You'd have to move to coach for the rest of the trip, but if you timed it just right you could actually get all included meals on the east-bound train, meaning dinner, breakfast, lunch and dinner, so long as you moved to coach at Manassas, VA or later, meaning 5 or fewer hours in coach. From Manassas to NYC is around 5 hours, so not so bad. ...And, having seen more of your video, I just realized the worst aspect of taking this train westbound. The most scenic parts through West Virginia and the New River Gorge are in total darkness, kind of defeating the main purpose of taking this route, which is the longest one that Amtrak has between NYC and Chicago. Perhaps the 4 hour delay was part of the reason for this, but the eastbound train gets into WV in early morning so there would have to be a half day or longer delay to miss the most scenic portions.

Seems like the U.S. is stuck in a cycle of aging infrastructure, underfunded public services, and political gridlock. Other countries are moving forward while we’re riding around in 30-year-old train cars. Roads, trains, power grids-everything’s outdated, and even with the recent investments, progress is slow or nonexistent. Feels like we’re falling behind, and it’s hard to see it turning around anytime soon.

Copa is one of the worst airlines in latin America. They do NOT serve alcohol in economy class. The flight attendants must be underpaid because they all seem to have a bad attitude. And just forget customer service, there is none.

My experience was awfull. It is only good for short flights. For long flights is terrible. In economy their planes have only 2 restrooms in the back, so the lines and wait is long. Not only that, I was never credited to my account the miles they promised! I don't recommend this airline!

According to the wikipedia article on Purdue Airlines, Purdue itself once briefly offered scheduled airline service from Purdue Airport to Chicago, way back in 1950.
