Very nice. The 1908 US Liberty Head looks very minty. If not high AU. To be honest I would grade this coin rather than the 1884M sovereign.
@shaunoliver170313 сағат бұрын
Usually when I send bits in for grading I go against price and potential - you won't win on everything but as long as you cover the downside then its viable.

Congrats on the 1918 India sov! Interesting histort behind them. I found one online a few months ago (smaller pawnshop, like cashies) the photo was quite good and I spotted the mint mark. Took a chance and got the train to a small town in Lancashire. The coin turned out to be in a presentation box in one of those magnetic rectangular holders (no COA). Full mint lustre, no signs of bag marks, nice fields. Not a bargain but paid the standard pawn shop rate for a sov (£500). So nothing to write home about on price but it's a lovely coin that I wanted, I think I did OK, all things considered. Some great coins in the video, I do enjoy seeing historic coins. Thanks.
@shaunoliver170313 сағат бұрын
I was shocked when I saw it because it wasnt labelled as such. I think 500 for an Indian sovereign is not the worst you know.

@shaunoliver1703Күн бұрын
Thats not a steadfast rule in shields though - it should always go down to the census and rarity. Some of these coins a 58 is a fantastic grade. Not for this coin in paticular but its not a one size fits all.
@StevenharknettКүн бұрын
I also graded an 1871 which got an AU 55. It was early in my grading journey so didn't have much idea. Sydney's tend to have lower mintages I believe.

Hi, Shaun - congrats with the shields - wow! Will the 1884 be worth grading? I don't know, because of the fields. I saw a very recent video from Ben The Coin Geek who complained about NGC suddenly pouring out Details Cleaned verdicts. A kind of pandemic of better-safe-than-sorry grades. But I find the coin very nice indeed 🙂Also congrats with all the other coins on your table - it's such a joy to follow you!
@shaunoliver1703Күн бұрын
Its one of those where if it hits an MS yes - if it doesnt then no. I havnt seen the video myself but I actually think they are grading harsher on the older coins and that is not necessarily a bad thing

Some really nice coins there, love the WW1 collection. Prefer foreign coins myself though most folk in the uk prefer to buy sovs and brits. Are you at liberty to divulge the auction you acquired these from? Also now you have removed your website is there somewhere that the public can see what you’re selling? And …. You haven’t change that white bench top yet. 😁

Leave my bench alone she has feelings haha. Sadly I don't share sources due to it being my income when I fully get out the game Its not a problem but until then Ill keep stum.
