Just to let everyone know, that was not vertical challenge that you did, unless you have a very well built rig with minimum 38" tires, lockers and a good spotter, don't even think about it

Ya our friends with the stock Willys Gladiator was able to do two with a little spotting. Your lift and 37”s will make those much easier. Rubicon ridge has a few ledges going down that might catch your rear bumper if you try them but I think you’ll clear if you’re careful. Fun Run has that tight section with rocks that I think will be the toughest part but ground clearance should be fine. Take it slow and use a spotter or get out to look. Let me know ow how it goes!

Hey thank you! The only ones I’ve done there are the BoH trails so can’t say about anything else. I think you’ll be ok on Snake and Quartz Canyon. The biggest issue on Rubicon Ridge is the ledges going down. You’ll probably drag your bumper down those if you don’t take the bypass. I wouldn’t try Fun Run unless you’re ok with body damage.

Who does a five tire rotation
@TwoTXJeepers
@TwoTXJeepers Жыл бұрын
If its likely you will be able to use all the tread life before having to replace all the tires a 4 tire rotation might be better. If you have decent odds that you'll damage one and it can't be repaired, the 5 tire rotation might make more sense. Which is better depends a lot on how often you beat up your tires. A 5 tire rotation also makes rotating very easy, you only need one jack/jackstand. Thanks for watching!

Unless I missed it, what size tire do currently have on the Jeep and do these aftermarket wheels have a more negative offset by any chance ?. Also is that the stock suspension on your unit ?. The reason I am wondering is that my brother just purchased a Rubicon with the Xtreme Recon package and was thinking of possibly putting the full width Classic Deluxe bumper on and that would be a nasty surprise if the XR package 35 inch tires didn't happen to fit. There are a lot of bumpers out there for Jeeps and am sure they are not all created equal quality or design wise.
@TwoTXJeepers
@TwoTXJeepers Жыл бұрын
Hey Charles, we've got 315/70r17 BFG KO2 which are the same "metric 35s" the XR comes with but I believe the AEV 2.5" Dualsport lift we have makes ours sit a little bit higher (~1in ?). Our wheels have 4.75" backspace / 0mm offset. I'm not certain what the specs are for the XR wheels but I think it's close. Unfortunately I think the biggest surprise he's going to have with his XR is how frequently he hits his front bump stops though. The XR package, EcoDiesel, and 392 all have bump stops that come down 1 3/8" lower than standard Rubicons. Adding a winch and aftermarket bumper are usually enough to make the reduced up-travel painfully obvious when just driving over train tracks and speed bumps. The cheapest way to minimize hitting the bump stops it is to add a spacer lift. Best riding way is to add an aftermarket lift.
@charlesb4267
@charlesb4267 Жыл бұрын
@@TwoTXJeepers From what I see comment wise the XR package gives about that 1.5 inches of lift and as you said the bump stops are modified to use up most of that up travel unfortunately. I've not seen anything so far to explain the back spacing of those special "bead lock ready" wheels relative to the other wheels Jeep offers. I wonder if the prior diesel and the 392 use the same springs or a stiffer spring as I assume those engines or certainly the 392 is heavier. But like you said an economic method would be to add a bit of a spacer to the front spring although not ideal from a ride stand point but "might" be acceptable. He was not interested in putting a lift on it or at least for now as the idea was to leave it fairly stock if possible for warranty purposes other then a few tweaks, the front bumper and winch being the most major change. Without a doubt sometimes when one changes one thing it changes other things and its a snowballing effect one had not counted on. Oh and of interest and probably something you were aware of but we were not until I stumbled across that info, that the Rubicon fenders or at least the front ones sits higher by about 2 inches and therefore the gap between the front of the front fender and the top of an aftermarket bumper would have more gap as I would imagine most bumpers are made to fit them all rather than a Rubicon specific bumper with a higher rise on the top if a full width bumper of course.
@TwoTXJeepers
@TwoTXJeepers Жыл бұрын
Yep both the diesel and 392 are heavy in the front. I believe all diesel models had the same springs, Sport, Willys, and Rubicon. Like you pointed out, the fenders are different so maybe that's why they all have the longer bump stops? He may consider just using the factory metal front bumper and taking the end caps off. That will still accept a winch and would probably weigh less than the ARB.
@charlesb4267
@charlesb4267 Жыл бұрын
@@TwoTXJeepers Definitely the factory metal bumper is an option but they are rather pathetic to be honest and don't add to the look of a Jeep. He wanted to see an example of some bumpers on Jeeps up here including the ARB classic before making a decision ( this is up in northern Alberta ) and unfortunately corrosion is a major factor and he cringes at the idea of putting that Jeep on our salt/calcium covered winter roads as that is what ruins every vehicle up here.

You bet! After you get it installed the key to getting it perfect: if your Jeep pulls right make the whole assembly longer, if it pulls left make it shorter. The adjustment only needs to be done on one side so if I’m going shorter I do the side with more threads showing. Opposite if making it longer. I had to tweak it a bit this week and I suspect it’s because the temperature dropped. Hopefully that isn’t indicative of a pressure leak.
