Im assuming that teen (Beauford) is basically acting as the coven's familiar. He's on the road with them, but he wasn't part of the circle that chanted the song/spell to open it.

Watching this episode I do feel better about this show. Episode 4 is awesome too and excited for more! But yeah my hope is that the boy isn’t her son and there’s a bigger twist with him.

As someone who was PAINFULLY shy as a kid and, like Riley, had a VERY small group of friends I was close to, I completely related to her meltdown over not going to high school with the people she knew. We moved 4 times in my 8th grade year, so I went from a high school to a middle school to a high school to a middle school. But 9th grade when I got into high school for the first time, I didn't know anyone and I was TERRIFIED because I was just not outgoing enough to make new friends. I know that feeling of deep anxiety that I would not be able to form new friendships. The part I find a little bit strange is that Riley seems like she was the team captain of the Foghorns, so she would have been interacting with a team of people on a regular basis. And every sporty kid I ever knew in school had at least enough confidence to be outgoing and make friends easily. So it's a LITTLE strange that Riley is scared she isn't going to be able to be friends with one of her Foghorn teammates once they get to high school. Still, all that said, Pixar did the extra research of screening the film every 4 months or so with a team of 9 teenage girls they dubbed "Riley's crew" to make sure the film stayed relevant to their outlook on what it's like to be a teenage girl. (Btw, when Pixar cut out Nostalgia at one point, the girls insisted that she be brought back, even if she wasn't going to play a major role.)

According to Joss Whedon in an interview, he actually butted heads with Donald Sutherland big time. "[...} Donald was just... He would rewrite all his dialogue, and the director would let him. He can't write-he's not a writer-so the dialogue would not make sense. And he had a very bad attitude. He was incredibly rude to the director, he was rude to everyone around him, he was just a real pain. And to see him destroying my stuff... Some people didn't notice. Some people liked him in the movie. Because he's Donald Sutherland. He's a great actor. He can read the phone book, and I'm interested. But the thing is, he acts well enough that you didn't notice, with his little rewrites, and his little ideas about what his character should do, that he was actually destroying the movie.[...]"

The animals are what's called familiars. Stereotypically, you imagine a witch having a black cat, but really it can be any animal. The rabbit seems to be Agatha's familiar. I'm guessing that the crow, the rat, and the Wolf were all familiars of members of the Salem seven.

It isn't really spelled out for us, but putting two and two together, it seems like the people of Westview sort of see Agatha as a hero of sorts and a fellow victim of the evil Scarlet Witch that had them all trapped until Agatha stepped in

I really enjoy this movie for the camp and cheese that it is. The bad acting on mostly all the parts but Lothos and Merrick have amazing actors and that's what we got? Donald even did his own thing a couple times. Kristy Swanson's always been an okay actress, playing similarly in everything I've seen her in. It's just too sad the movie could have been better as per what the original script sounded like, which is darker with Merrick and the school gym actually burning down. Those vampires were technically in the school so them not getting in the gym easy is just weird. I mean, it's the same place. It would have been better had they had an explanation à la Angelus to Jenny in season 2. This movie isn't good but it isn't bad. It is a good time no matter what and to me, it's a classic. And it is totally remembered by everyone no matter what anyone says and it gave us the amazing show!
