I’ve never tried. You definitely need constant moisture to keep the germination going but any direct sun will likely dry and die. Any attempt to drag over will help tremendously. Literally running back and forth with a four wheeler will do the trick. Anything will help. Good luck!

Stringing barb wire around the top to increase effective height seems a recipe for spaghetti. Panicking animals will ignore barriers that hurt, ever noticed how they smack directly into trap perimeters at full speed. Repetitively? Pork is best shredded once dead. For top wires plain wire will work just as well without the additional injuries. Strung around the inside of the T posts will provide some barrier. Using the holes might destabilise the rigidity of the trap as the leverage of a big pig on top of the posts will be significant. Tie backs would prevent that. It might also be prudent to string vertical wires from the panel mesh top to the upper wires or have rigid wire etc. spacers to reduce the chance of pig squeezing between those top wires. These modification ideas would need testing to check validity, and altered where necessary.

If the trailcam makers had half a brain they would chuck all those AA batteries and use 18650 lithium cells which all have 3.7volts each, last WAY longer than an AA. ALSO wire it so that whenever external power is used it DOES NOT power the cam, but charged the 18650 batteries. BUT we wouldnt want to break up the poker game the cam engineers have going in the backroom. !

@TheHandyHunter

During full sun the solar panel will output ~20volts which can damage the cam. This is averaged down while being connected to the battery so some say you dont need it. I use them as a safety stop in case the battery goes bad and the solar voltage goes directly to the cam causing damage. Hope that helps!

@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter Ай бұрын
No because a LifePo4 smart battery charger needs specific feedback from charging state of each battery and doing multiple would confuse it and possibly not charge right. You could try it and see it may work due to the BMSs preventing overcharge and shutting off the battery, then the charger power is likely to continue with the others until all are charged and shut off…not sure.

I purchased this system at a Woodworking Show, in the early 1980s. I purchased a newer wheel set about 1993. It was no better than the 1st. I've had the systems mounted on two different speed grinder motors. I used it for TEN YEARS! IT IS NOT the best sharpening system. The learning curve is utterly discouraging for most purchasers. YES, you can make a really sharp knife. Yes you can totally ruin a nice knife too. I for one, moved on. I have MULTIPLE sharpening systems that are WAY MORE REPEATABLE and easily achieve just as sharp results. I still have the kit, which are setting unused in the bottom drawer of my tool box. I've loaned it to several friends, The ALL were discouraged, not that they couldn't get repeatable results! THIS SYSTEM is a bad recommendation for the average home sharpener. IF it's so darn good, why don't culinary professionals have one in every kitchen. Answer: it NOT repeatable for the average user. AND, YES, I trued my wheels to the Nth degree. Made little difference in results. I'm at least 30 years older than you, and have MUCH more experience. So, believe me or not.... YOU SHOULDN'T have to monkey around to get good repeatable results...
@TheHandyHunter
@TheHandyHunter Ай бұрын
I have absolutely no trouble getting repeatable razor sharp knives in seconds. Are they a perfect angle, no, but if I was looking for perfect I would use a different setup and there are many good ones out there. I use this sharpener every single day in my shop for razor blades, filet knives, box cutters, kitchen knives, pocket knives, scrapers, tools, drill bits, you name it. I can’t find another sharpener as quick and effective as this one for what I do on a daily basis. I get that many beginners will have a hard time mastering and you can ruin good blades if not careful. I just got a new TSPROF sharpener which should give a repeatable edge but it is a much slower process. What has been your favorite sharpener so far? Thanks for sharing.👍

If you place heavy duty wire mesh fencing on the inside of the cattle panels it would prevent losses. We use a mesh here in Tasmania called wallaby wire (to fence out wallabies and kangaroos) that is a woven wire similar to chicken wire, but is made from 3mm (1/8”) wire with holes around 30mm (1 1/4” across) and comes in various heights to 2m (6’) high. It would need to be clipped onto your solid panels at each post, but is incredibly strong, and NOTHING will get out!

I plant the arrowleaf in with my fall mix around mid September every year. Be careful not to plant it too deep. I usually mix it with lime and spread it after I spread my grains.
