I see it can be done online now If I want to stay six months, after my first 30 days, can I skip right to a two month or six extension if I get the ACR card right away, or is it mandatory that I do the first extension of 29 days, THEN I can do the two/six month extension?
@imexpatbill
@imexpatbill 9 күн бұрын
You have to do the given 30 days upon arrival and the 29 day extension, then you get your arc card in the 2 extension after the 59 days.

It really depends on your attitude and what you are willing to sacrifice and what you are not willing to give up. I did mention that 800 was the bare minimum for a monthly budget.

Unless there has been a recent change, the ECC-A that is required for those on tourist visas to leave the country can only be obtained at your local BI office. Those on certain permanent visas that need to obtain an ECC-B to leave the country , can be acquired online or at the airport .

When I first came to the Philippines 14 years ago on a tourist visa every gringo I met had a scene to circumvent the Immigration laws here. I almost got sucked into that neverending cycle. Instead, I did my homework and researched a permanent resident visa. I discovered the PRA Visa program, applied for it, received it, and have never looked back since. It's the best thing I've done here...besides marry my wife.

I would agree, I would never try to circumvent the immigration laws, if they allow you to stay for three years then stay for three years, if they tell its time to go, then go.

You mean go the US illegally? You are taking chances. Some 2.3 million illegals were apprehended in 2022 alone. Maybe 30%-40% get in. The rest are caught. And it's no fun living in the country illegally. And fat chance they could ever get a tourist visa to visit the US. Hey, people enter the PH illegally by sea also. Chinese do, Indians do, Indonesians,etc. The PH has no land borders with any country as the US does. So it's not easy to enter. But many are also regularly apprehended. We get tourist visas, retiree visas etc. Yes, we are way more welcome than Filipinos are in the US as tourists.

I find "interview" a big word for the simple question of the assessing immigration officer 'if I have family in the Philippines'. With my three lines explanation of my situation it was all good. Actually, when I returned from such visa run before, the immigration officer at the airport asked the same question.

I just got my 2 month extension today in Dumaguette, I've been here for 1 year and 10 months. Something seems to be happening with the BI, usually it's a breeze, pay your money, come back in 3 hours and pick up your passport with new extension. Today though it was the usual question, What visa is this for? Tourist for pleasure ma'am. Do you have a wife? No ma'am. Well you've been here for almost 2years, how much travelling around are you still doing? A bit but I live near a beach so no need to travel ma'am. Well Manila has told us you must look at a permanent residence option if you plan on staying longer such as a 13a if you can get married or a SSRV . Well ma'am I'm single so 13a isn't an option and I don't have the money for an SSRV. I thought ma'am that I could extend up to 3 years then leave for a day, come back and start again. We're not sure now Sir, Manila wants more foreigners that plan on staying to be permanent residents. Ok ma'am does that mean I'll have to leave and spend all my money in Thailand? So can I still get future extensions ma'am? It's up to Manila to decide, we'll wait and see. Ok ma'am goodbye. 😢😅?????? So somethins goin down at the BI methinks
@imexpatbill
@imexpatbill 22 күн бұрын
I went through that yesterday too, it seems if you stay over a year, then you have this interview where they ask those questions. If they lowered the amount of deposit required for non-military people (currently 10K USD) then I think more of us would get SSRV's. I mean very few foreigners ever get that deposit back.
