Well i think it is basically class warfare. The RV people are considered wealthier, than someone who lives in a van.

lol i guess i was different dad called me lil gypsy always wanting to go somewhere i first saw a van lifer around age 16 and immediately fell inlove with the idea through all the years it always stuck with me so yes i grew up with the idea even learnt how to craft everything from knitting macrame crochet tufting tatting beading weaving basket weaving sewing wood carving wood burning latch hook fishing hunting culling hide tanning if its a craft i learnt it even how to operate a pc and videos etc tho i dont make any i do toy with it and learnt the editors etc i studied the weeds which is edible which isnt which is medical and so yes dump me in the forest or desert dump me in the city i will survive i been homeless a few times bushes my only shelter to tents and now trailers and i also lived in houses too but wasnt so happy im in my 60s btw

SO glad my parents taught me back in my teens to save 10-20% of your paycheck and don’t touch it. And also told me that social security was never ever meant to fund our whole retirement !!! There were times in my 20’s that o worked 2-3 part time jobs. Did some side hustles and baby sat and whatever to stay ahead of the rat race. I’m 59 now, no mortgage and I have savings. But I’m glad my younger self did that. I also didn’t waste money on smokes and alcohol. What a wealth builder killer that is. My neighbors whine about not having money and they spend $250 a month on tobacco products ! That’s crazy !!!

Are there any shelters where you are? My mother had to stay in one for a while and they helped her get into her own place. Praying you find people and resources to get into a comfortable space ❤

My hubby and I bought our first house aged 21 and 22, we worked our butts of repairing it sold and moved onto another while having two babies and working night duty. Now early retirees, people say how lucky we are. We are not lucky just worked VERY HARD.

Everyone should strive to get an education to bump up your salary, it is a lot of extra money during a lifetime. Then buy a home you can afford and which you can pay off before you reach retirement. Working low salary jobs and renting all your life, you will end up with nothing. Of course you can still get in trouble when the unexpected happes, you marry the wrong person or health takes a turn for the worse etc.

Our children and their children have abandoned us. They don't care and don't want to think about us! Social Security IS A JOKE! Politicians get amazing raises while we are thrown a bone at the end of the year! I am 72 and cannot live on just my SS. I have to rely on my wife's SS to make ends barely meet! The Philippines honors and loves the elderly and makes sure they are taken care of. NOT HERE! 12 years I gave to the security of this country. Put my life on the line. A whole lot of people in your situation, some of it, bad luck or being scammed because they didn't investigate what they were getting into, some of it because of things beyond their control and a lot of it because of who they voted for and the trade bills they passed. It's a tough and unforgiving world anymore. Funny I was arguing about being able to retire with a friend of mine in the fifth grade, we both were able to retire, but he never gave smoking up, so he has passed away.

It's that most Americans will end up homeless. With cities spend millions of taxed dollars on civic buildings, museums, parks, roads, bridges, etc. Nothing for the homeless. No night shelters with shower and toilet availability. After a lifetime of paying taxes, many don't have a a shit hole to do their daily shit. We live in the richest country in the world. I think us boomers are the offspring of the greatest generation. We were raised to expect the unexpected. I remember my dad always asking me if that plan falls through what's your next plan. I've learned over the years that if plan A falls through, I resort to plan B. When I'm really lucky I have a plan C just in case. I not afraid of anything at this age.

I am senior, also who used to live in my van also , and I was thankful that I had van . High cost is really tough on all .

The truth is you can't even make it if you do work anymore. I know tons of young people that either have babies so they qualify for government assistance or live with their parents. Inflation has priced a large portion of the population out of the housing market. Things aren't the same anymore.

Everything is so high. Im 65 and terrified of our future. My ss don't go anywhere 😢❤ i always worked. Trying to build my channel to help me, thats going well either😂. Got to laugh or i will cry. 😊❤

I wish you good health and good fortune. I wonder if there is part time jobs that seniors can do. Like work from home customer service agents, or teaching English from your living room. I'd work til the day I die. I don't mind working. The goal is to figure a profession could allow me to work in my 80s. There are a couple in my mind. I chose to become a therapist/counselor. I have to go to the grad school (again), the first obstacle, is entering one. We'll see if I can get in the only university we have here.

I sold my house and moved in my van because I didn’t need all that space, responsibility, taxes, HOA, etc. But I made that choice because it was right for me. Love it. Do yes many choose the life style for a myriad of reasons. Then some have no choice. It’s got to be easier if you choose to. Not for everyone for sure. Do you know what makes it worse, is when tge vehicles are no longer able to be fixed like they could be back when since they are all digitalized and need special tools and diagnostics.

RV= MONEY PIT

I’m soon turning 77. Live alone in a mobile home. But so many health issues of late. Single parent (not one cent of child support), raised my 5 grandkids after my younger daughter passed from heart issues. Heart disease is in the family. Both sides. I thought I’d be long gone by now. Worked a long time…2 very hectic jobs. Never remarried. On,y child here….. so I’m never lonely. I took in 2 stray cats (sickly) and there’s about 8/9 feral cats left. They all have cat shelters. I can’t drive any more. Most of the time I can barely get out of bed. Don’t leave my home much. Need dental work and new eyeglasses…but no money. I’m not complaining. Every so often I fall down on hardwood floor or deck or outside..,embarrassing. Drs don’t know why. I’ve banged and bruised myself up,bloody at times……needed stitches only twice….but no broken bones.🙏🏻. Hospital doesn’t know why. No one know why. I’m anemic. Take b12. Heart palpitates like crazy. Got a new pill to take for the palpating and shortness of breath. Probably now I’ll grow another ear. 😏 It’s tough. Helped everyone else and now I’m down to pretty much nothing, No one helps me. But I’ve learned not to beat myself up if I am in pain, having a crappy day. I’ve learned to stop helping all grownups. And just focus on the cats, the raccoons, the opossums, the squirrels and an occasional bunny. They all know me. They all get along too. Surprises me. Non humans getting along with different species without anger and without fighting. Humans could learn a thing or two from caring for non humans. I’m not sure how anyone is going to be able to survive, pay bills, repair something if it breaks, rent goes up every year. Every bill went up this year. This is the worst I’ve ever seen it….and some people are making choices and I’m not sure they’re not just plain irrational and delusional nasty ass bullies. 🤦‍♀️. I barely eat. Sometimes I feel like I’ve wound up in TWILGHT ZONE. (old old tv show from long ago). Good luck to you Lindy. I have no where else to go either. I took whole family in after my daughter passed..raised them..gave my sin in-law lots of money. That was 11/12 yrs ago. Kids are all adults. Son in law is a taker. Gave him so much money to help..did all I could to help raise those grandkids. Never got a thank you or one cent back. I’d bet I gave him close to almost $200,000. Now he’s got a new gf. Riding around in a brand new Audi. He’s remodeled his home 3 times. Only buys the best. This is not me. I’m just a tad angry because I didn’t like him to begin with. Younger daughter (who passed) would not listen. Soooooooo. I’m pretty much burnt out. There’s more but I’ll spare you. Not jumping off a cliff yet…but maybe soon. I can still walk a short distance.
