Not sure if that was intentional or not, but Mr. D gives me ever so slight Beavis & Butthead vibes meant for an older and conservative audience of the same time frame.

Honestly the funniest thing is that the people behind the ad never put together that "delicate surgery" would be interpreted as a vasectomy, and thought their intent that he was talking about his haemorrhoids would come across clearly.

Based on the current state on every restaurants that used to be fun like Pizza Hut and McDonalds back then, Mr Delicious would fit perfectly on how depressing this modern era truly is.

Interestingly, they still have a handful of restaurants in existence as of 2024. It's too bad that this ad campaign was unsuccessful in 1992; he's memeworthy, and I think people now might respond differently. Dickety Dee

The Mr. delicious cartoon character was just too far ahead of its time. Now that I’m in my 30s I think the ads are actually pretty funny and clever. It’s just a shame that it wasn’t a thing back then.

I don't think that Mister D is controversial, just boring and annoying. If I'm looking to eat a cheap burger, the last thing that I want to see advertising it is a midlife crisis in cartoon form.

I forgot that his introduction had him saying “I may be a cartoon, but I’m not a cartoon for babies like the *norm* oh no no, I’m a SOPHISTICATED cartoon~” Utterly retarded. Pick one. They wanted their cake and now the only thing people remember em by is how they went bankrupt.
