It was awful for its time. I enjoyed this ironically, but it makes me laugh and groan over the fact that someone genuinely thought this was a good idea to have a balding, middle aged, vasectomized divorcee with anger issues who shares too much about his personal life be the spokesperson to sell roast beef. Mr. Delicious gives off the impression that RAX is just comfort food that you stress eat when your life sucks. He would have killed it today though.

Mr. Delicious is relatable to adults. Whether we admit it or not, life sucks. We'd rather not be here. The best part of our day, and the closest we'll ever come to achieving happiness, is eating our favorite foods or using drugs. People listen to Mr. D talk about his problems, and it reminds them of themselves.

i forgot about the “animation is for kids” mentality for a second, and when he said “people who wet their pants” i thought he was referring to the elderly.

...If only the Rax chain and Mr. D. were around in 2021, both would very much be accepted! Why? Because nowadays, Clowns and Yellow Formica, ditto soccer moms backing up the line ordering a dozen Happy Meals and bitching about the lack of seating for 15, ARE all enough to unsettle ANYONE'S nerves!

@@michaelbadger3021 You're right... I stand corrected... A shame though, because "Mr. D" was definitely before his time... If Rax had gotten its act together by now, the character would have been a success these days when some get easily offended, and others go out of their way to start that aggravation up!

Interestingly, they still have a handful of restaurants in existence as of 2024. It's too bad that this ad campaign was unsuccessful in 1992; he's memeworthy, and I think people now might respond differently. Dickety Dee
