I wouldn’t say the 1.6, 16 valve engine is a “relatively small” engine in a car that size. When released it was more expensive than the Golf GTi too!

Great video! Thanks a lot! I just bought a 2003 SL55 and I am in awe. You mentioned that the owner of this one retrofitted the P030 pack. Would you have more info on this, in particular the LSD? I’d be grateful for any feedback on this.

Bought it with 99k km for the price of a new auto tranny (4500€) installed @ 96k km and now I have 165 k km! Best part is for the past 55 k I’m I am running the car w a Stag lpg conversion that makes the car super economical to run! Now I am considering a polestar or bar chip tuning to get 40 Nm of torque and close to 300 hp! Greetings from Thessaloniki Greece!!!

I recommend to drive the SL55 to Nordschleife and you will see, what the car is capable to do. I do it by a Nürburgring-training day and was very surprised how fast and hard you can drive it. It was pure fun. Then overs have to squeeze out the last revs out of their cars, my SL do it easy riding on his torque wave. My SL55 comes from factory as one of the first with official 500 PS and without limiter (drivers package) and has since two years a software-tuning with round about 540PS.

I just got 2014 T5 that I'm having some suspension work done right now. I instantly fell in love. I replaced the badges since they were worn. Got my first vanity plate. "SKOGSRA" (Swedish for witch or forest spirt) and the moose badge. I love the Scandinavian functionality while still being a beast with that turbo. Classy over flashy all day. I miss my baby. Hope she feels better soon.

Oh, well done Dutch boys. I stumbled upon this video by accident. Congratulations. The car is excellent, a dream of dreams. I'm just the owner of the regular model in the civilian version 1.4 BXW type 6L1, we bought it new and installed an LPG kit, and we still sit down and drive with a smile. Your Ibiza is even better, it's great. You made a very nice video test.

A 2006 Slk55 is just as fast because of power to weight ratio and not so complex. You could have supercharger issues and abc suspension issues down the road. It's a comparison of next car to buy I've been stuck with for some time. Throw in the Slk32 in there too I suppose

The S60 has a wonderful steering wheel allowing you to control your radio. It takes just a very little time to control the radio console blind. Mine got a Bluetooth to Aux converter simply start your car and within 10 seconds your sound is ready to go. The delay is just perfect to give your engine a tiny warm up before starting with some load.

All the stars aligned in creating this masterpiece. The e39 design proportions have been emulated by untold numbers of other cars over the past 20 years. But none have surpassed this original, now classic benchmark for all others. The mechanical brilliance of this machine and the beautiful body lines have conspired to make the best sedan ever built. As of this writing, 10/13/23.....an e39 can still be purchased for a reasonable sum of money. However, we see an incremental value increase with no end in sight. Grab one now while it's still affordable. Then restore it back to origal. Guaranteed best investment you'll ever make on a car!

I recently purchased an all-black 06' SL55 with 85K on the odometer & aftermarket 19" rims with a machined finish, 265mm in front & 305mm in the rear for $16 grand. I had carbon fiber installed on the front lip, spoiler, diffuser & side mirrors from RW Carbon on a new 030 front end. Engine mods are next. Even though the car is now 17 years old, the looks & neck breaking it commands are amazing.

@@TheHitman- I admit that I was searching for about 4 months before I found the one I happened to buy. I put up notifications on every online car website I could find & was lucky enough to find mine about 5 hours away within 30 minutes of the ad being placed. If you're serious & ready to make the purchase, just stay on top of every online platform you can find & it'll come along, but in the last 6 months alone the prices have skyrocketed about 25% so don't wait too long.

I have the 1.6 6L with the FR package. Looks almost the same as the one in the video. Minus the spoiler and the wheels. I can't tell you guys enough. The car is actually really fun to drive. It's a small car which even the 1.6 with 105 hp is blazingly fast. This car is a fun daily and it is great as someone's first car. If you're looking to buy one, definitely go for it. You won't regret it.

Hello, cool channel I just found, nice video. I want to get one as my first car, 3.0 manual, I'd prefer blue exterior colors, if not silver or green. Interior - I like black one the least, it just has to be not too worn. But the prices are rising, not sure for how much I'll be able to get one(from 3 to 5), I plan to keep it as long as possible and make some light tuning to it maybe to 300HP maximum, without turbos, suspension tune too. But I'm not sure how and when I'm going to get one, I'm 20 and it's one of the biggest goals for me, while it's so misarable sometimes that I can't get myself a car...

Completely agree about the SL, Electric cars will NEVER offer the same emotions or experience as a supercharged V8 old-school supercar like the SL55. Mine is a 2007 so 510bhp and 538 torque, mars red and only 19k miles. When looking for an SL55 make sure it has good service history... Also, get the newest year you can afford. This is the beautiful thing about the SL55... Supercar performance when you want it to be, and the ultimate grand touring experience when you want to just cruise, etc. The ABC system placed this car in a tier of its own... NO exotic at the time had a system quite like it.

What is the fuel consumption like? How many L/100 km?
@Rusty64502 жыл бұрын
I purchased a 2007 SL55 AMG and that was the first year with the larger 82mm throttle body. It has 'real' paddle shifters (not the buttons) and was stock at 510 hp. The m113k engine is a de-tuned engine and is pretty bullet proof and is the same as the SLR that can easily be modified. Mine is a street driver, so I did not get too radical on mods, but there are many options. An updated supercharger pulley can add some horsepower, but you might also consider replacing the stock belt pulley system. Mine had some issues with continued full throttle acceleration, so I added a larger intercooler in addition to the stock intercooler (yes I have two intercoolers) and replaced the intercooler pump with the Bosch 010. The suspension system is so incredibly complex very expensive when things fail. The power steering belt driven pump also drives the hydraulics for the suspension and the pressure in the system are incredible. If you ever get a leak in your power steering, SHUT THE CAR DOWN IMMEDIATELY.
@NickWilliams-z6tАй бұрын
So the car continued full throttle acceleration even when you lifted off? I had a CLS 55 that did that with a couple of people who drove it. What's the cause?

Considering buying an Aero in fantastic lime colour--filled with rainwater in recent thunderstorms here in Spain--dealer drying out and looking for new doors seals!
@caractacusbrittania74427 ай бұрын
Door seals are normally good for years, It will be leaking from the pollen filter housing. Take off wiper arms, remove black scuttle panel, and you will see the filter housing in a vertical position. Remove filter, unbolt plastic housing, on the back you will see a crumbles felt seal, scrape it off, clean the area where it fits, use a generous bead of sikoflex or tekoflex sealant, not silicone as that will fail in a few months. Refit all and your problem will dissappear. Remember your carpets have one inch deep foam, with indented channels, It will take a lot of drying out to get rid of it. Also remember when you took the filter housing off, you could see through the hole the heater blower motor, that will have had water on it, spray it with something like wd 40.
