Thank you. 😊 My three are looking the same, I almost thought that they were dying off. I bought some seeds back from Tenerife back in 1986 and in the summer of 87 my dad grew a monster from one of those seeds. It grew to about 7ft in the first year and was covered in flowers. Sadly it didn't survive the winter. From everything that I've read they are not supposed to flower in the first year but this one did.

Thank you so much for the great content. I really feel better about re-poting my p. Aquatica . I found him in an alley near dead and waterlogged. It took almost a year to get him stable. Its ridiculous how fast he grows. Healthy and strong for sure. Personally i decided not to continue the braiding and just gently use plant wire to keep him somewhat organized.

Do you think us in the north east of england could grow these? i got given 5 seeds, all depends on if they germinate or not too haha
@OurEnglishTropicalGarden
@OurEnglishTropicalGarden 2 ай бұрын
If they germinate they will grow the first year, the problem is overwintering them.

Your tetrapanax did you just have fleece over it ?
@OurEnglishTropicalGarden
@OurEnglishTropicalGarden 3 ай бұрын
I wrapped the whole stem in fleece all the way to the top. I also put some around the base to protect that a little more in case the stem was lost. I’m still learning with this plant as last year I didn’t wrap at all and thought I’d lost it in a harsh winter. I hope that helps

@@OurEnglishTropicalGarden Definitely thanks, I put 2 different types out and looks like I may of lost them as they were only about a foot high. But no protection as I heard from numerous KZbin videos that they rot if you wrap them but obviously not.😂 Try your method next time.🤞🙏😂

It’s probably due to light deprivation. It needs very well drained soil, with grit, water it sparingly. If you are in the UK protect it from them rain, snow and frost. I have mine under cover at the moment and wrapped in fleece.

Usinoidies is the name. I live in perth west Australia, and have hundreds of these lovely plants. Started out eith 5 plants,and when they are full and long, i just break them off half way, and tie them off with a thick elastic band, and hook them onto tree branches, hanging baskets, everywhere. Here they stay in the garden all year round. They have tiny little green, yes green flowers in spring and are tough plants. They go well with my collection of tillasandias. They come from the desert in sounth America and are absolutely pests there! They grow everywhere, and are used to stuff cushions, mattresses and as packaging material. I use liquid hydroponic solution every month to keep them growing well. I hope your plants multiply well for you. Cheers.

@OurEnglishTropicalGarden

I don’t cut the leaves off as they also act as insulation. They will die but if the core is protected enough it should sprout from the top keeping the height. It depends how severe the winter is

Hi. Great video! I have an indoor castor bean that has just started producing mature seeds. Being that it's grown strictly indoors can I plant the seeds anytime? I believe they still go dormant indoors during the winter if I'm correct. I have no pets or kids that's why I grow one inside. Gorgeous plant!

I would make sure the seed is dry, otherwise it may rot in the compost when planted.

Hi Sandra, thank you for following my channel. I’m sure you will face challenges as we all do if you want a tropical garden. The hardest. Is protecting the plants from severe wet and cold. @@OurEnglishTropicalGarden I will. So far, the lemons look lovely, but I haven't attempted to bring it indoors to our heated house in the winter! I was going to mention we also have a silk tree.
