David Bamber and Nicola Walker - terrific actors. The lady chief inspector was doing a rather good Margaret Thatcher impersonation. 🙂 Thank you, for uploading. 😁

Well, I got as far as the start of the interview in this part of the episode and I have had enough. I was giggling from start to finish of the first episode, as a retired teacher I could see scenes from real life teaching through the farce. But then it suddenly came too close to the bone. There is such a fine line between humour and dislike in farce and it depends as much upon the individual watching as the writing and acting itself.

When I was a teacher, I would have been affronted and genuinely quite angry about this show, but as a retired teacher now, I have been in fits of giggles from start to finish!! How does that happen? I'm not sure if I will watch any more. Perhaps a bit too much to take. Perhaps what we can get out of this show is the effect that three years of teaching has had on Steven Moffat.

If they didn't see the Fawlty Towers comparisons then they were more oblivious than I thought. Slatt seems like a blatant Basil Fawlty rip-off. Moffat tried to do a school version of Fawlty Towers, and it fell flat.

I love Steven Moffat (love Coupling) but never even heard of this programme until today. I've just watched the first episode and thought it was brilliantly funny on the whole. Though sometimes the characters seem too extreme and completely lacking in any sense of reality, for example, Mr Slatt's blatant callousness. It would have been funnier if he were more subtle and nuanced. But I do love this show. Also seems a shame the kids just seem to be extras rather than proper "characters".

I loved this - most of all season 2 episode 5 (Exam). I feel this was so close to reality but so heightened, it was the best of all the episodes filmed. But the bit here about teachers' reactions? Honestly, there are things here that any state school teacher will recognise, characters who you will meet in any staffroom, broadened out by the nature of a farce. But teachers' initial negativity? - inevitable from a profession that has been beaten down so often by Ofsted, governments, the media - and everyday from parents and pupils. This must have felt just like one more kicking. They've had so many.
