Blimey, I used to use Robsport for my TR7 V8 (SAC 424W) back in the early 1990s, good to hear they are still going. I used to drive out to Royston to see them quite often, great guys who knew their stuff.

i love and hate these cars with equal passion, ran one for two years back in the eighties. the design I think was gorgeous, but the build quality and reliability was awful. would love one that was profesionaly restored, with all the problems sorted, but now am too old to do it myself

Nice find on the boot lid 👍robsport. That Primer is porous, so best to put some actual paint on it.

That would be a 'no'. The Guy next door is a nutter. Not expecting anything from him. My Solicitor says that an attachment to sale can be attached to the property so it'll have to be resolved if he wants to sell. Take care mate.

The rear wing (at least) could probably be done by one of the dent removal specialists, so could the boot though that might be easier to replace😢

Hey, perhaps now you won't drive on a certain day and because of that, nasty bad thing doesn't happen. A wee bit of TLC to keep your hand in.

No worries. Car is ok. It could have been totalled, a pancake, and not the yummy kind. Yes, it's unfortunate, but I'm glad car is ok, and you can even drive it to the repair shop.

How frustrating with the original paintwork, looked after for all those years, not even your tree, gutted for you. Where there's a will there's a way.

The car isn't too bad, the dents can be dollied out, but the roof might be expensive. Bad luck Chris.

That could've been a lot worse than it is and I know it's easy for me to say that as I'm not the one who's got to spend the time getting quotes and fixing a garage roof. I suspect your nieghbours might be a tad less friendly when you give them the bills. At the end of the day they should've acted sooner a cut the tree back hopefuly you can get this sorted with out too much heart ache.

Fortunatley you've had the foresight to record this will be interesting moving forward what happens now. i would be in touch with council/ solicitors about that tree. I hope the blue car is not too badly damaged.

Jim, greetings from `sunny' North Wales. My neighbour is never at home. He spends most of his time in Scotland. The last branch that broke off fortunately landed in my Garden at the back. I cut it up and dragged it around to his house knocked on his door several times with no response. Fun and games eh? Take care. Chris Robinson

@@chrisrobinson61 yeah...don't know how it works on your side of the pond...here in wintry Ontario, if your neighbour's tree causes damage on your side, he is Iiable...but any part of his tree that overhangs your yard can be cut back by you, even if it is harmful to the tree...birches are an issue, and often come down after only 20 or 30 years of growth. My hangar queen TR-8 is covered under my general homeowners policy, until (if) I finish it, when the auto insurance takes over. I lost a vintage tractor 30 years ago when snow collapsed my garage....always worried that the payout on a sports car wouldn't cover the damage. Hope it's OK

Toughing out the cold and snowy weather. Good luck sorting out the mess and maybe just give up working on all cars till spring
@ChrisFEJackson

Can be a tricky one this,. You are entitled to cut away any branches that extend over your boundary wall. Although the tree stems form you neighbours property for him to cut back the tree, he would need for your permission to gain access to your property, otherwise he is technically trespassing. It may be deemed an 'act of god' for the branch that fell unless you have evidence it was likely to go, then again the onous may be on you for not cutting it back. But the law may be slightly different in Wales. As an example I used to pick apples from my neighbours tree that was overhanging my garden, he got upset by it, why I'll never know, he wanted to cut the branches back so I refused him entry to my property, I can be a dick also!!

With respect to the peg that bolts into the selector shaft. I beleive the peg should just slide fit inside the steel ball, the ball should stay in the nylon socket in the selector housing. If that's come out together then you will need to check the nylon cups that retain the ball (comapre it to the other one that is at the gear lever end. They should operate the same way)

On my 5 speed TR8, that single bolt that goes through the center of the gearbox mount, passes through the mount, then through a spacer and then bolts directly into the hole in the gearbox that is between where you have the two existing Rover SD1 rubber mounts.

I've always found that if you pump the fluid through quickly by stamping hard repeatedly on the pedal then it bleeds successfully without drawing air through the slave... You have a very nice car collection there btw! TR7s are much under-rated, esp with upgraded engines.

I have no idea how you can find , let alone work on the car inside that garage. I've spent days organizing my garage so I can actually find tools and parts when and if I need them. I always pressure wash a car clean before working on it also.
