while presuppositions or prejudices are great because they are the starting point from which you learn, it's important to... you know, refine and nuance your opinion? i agree this kind of music is shite but you gotta (at least try to) occupy the viewpoint of both parties to form a viable argument. if you want to unmask their values and beliefs you have to know where they are coming from. not to view from a pedestal but on equal level

4:36 also when you switch from the "bad music" to the "other music" you're comparing apples to oranges; they are both a different style or genre, yes, and we all know which is better, of course! ;) but, they do not portray the same emotion or state of being. so to compare them and judge them on how "pleasant" it is for you to listen to, is off

Too much snark for such paltry personality. Criticism is a difficult practice. It should be a balance between love and the desire to help improve whatever is not good. But love should be what you sense most. It will be what will attract an audience to the criticism. I do not detect love here, I do not detect enthusiasm, nor a desire to help improve things. I only detect a need to prove himself witty and knowledgeable. A desire to exploit other people's failings under the impression that pointing at them will make him shine. Well, here's the news, Daniel. It most definitely does not!

I think Ashley Fure is one of the best portrayers of contemporary life... Mozart portrayed his own life, Romantic area did for their own period and now we have got composers like her and John Cage and even more... I have listened to at least 2000 pieces of modern music for 3 months this year, trust me Ashley Fure is a genius. you may not understand what is going on, if you would listen to John Cage 4:33 you'd know what's all about. you should change your definition of music. I'm sorry but Fure can not ever be compared to the other pieces in your list like penis and stuff...

And again one of the many critics that our world is apparently full of. How boring to listen to yet another arrogant critic who has clearly earned his spurs by watching and listening on the sidelines. Fortunately, there is also KZbin where this kind of arrogance is apparently the order of the day. Wasted time listening to this pathetic display of amateurism. I am now waiting for someone who really understands business, at least I can learn something from that.

I also find it strange to say that truck drivers prefer Beethoven and in the next breath complaining that the "cultural elite" prefer Ashley Fure, with this indicating some kind of problem. This is literally just not true, Truck drivers do not exactly listen to Beethoven en masse, it is more often the "cultural elite" that listen to Beethoven. Sounds like Tucker Carlson or something.

I don't understand how you could use the idea that the Rite was "simulated" barbarism while Filament is "genuine" barbarism. That's just arbitrarily assigning words to things and using it as an argument - certainly there's no objective elements in the music to point to that puts the pieces into those different categories that aren't subject to different interpretation. Someone 100 years ago could very easily have said the Rite of Spring was genuine barbarism and it would have exactly the same validity as the argument used here.

I really love music from Isaac, Desprez, Gesualdo, Zelenka or Mozart, but also Webern, Nono, Feldman, Takemitsu and even Fure and many others great composers. Great, supportive comments were made by normal working people. Racist, hateful and insulting comments were made by butthurt crappy musicians. I wonder why. Dudes, do you ever ask yourselves why the arts need to be subsidized so much? It's because the music you compose sucks. The melody sucks, the way you perform the great composers of the past is boring, so the result is that you only attract people like yourselves.

Now, since you criticized my English in that video, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that you misspelled "loser" and "just," that English is a proper noun and should therefore be capitalized, that an ellipsis should be followed by a space, that the word proceeding an ellipsis should not be capitalized, as it is still part of the earlier sentence, that you put one too many periods after "others" without a space before the sentence fragment "Pathetic," and that this aforementioned sentence fragment should end with a period.
