Ayy up love the RS2000 I hated how the Nose Cone fitted,when I get another I will have the slam panel extended to the nose cone then there isn’t that gap.also have a better air flow to the radiator by fitting sides down the side of the lights.love the work you do when I get another I will give you a call,I had a w reg one and the RS2000 decals was on the boot and the bottom of the Nose cone I think the nose cone decal was a retro fit from the owner before I had it

Do a 2 door conversion if the DVLA want to play and give you a Q plate let them can you not put a private number plate on??

Zak speed sounds good. There was one for sale for ages with a Honda lump in it. Could you put a person number plate on it to avoid the dreaded Q plate?

@@modz82 I’m already well into the 2 door conversion,all the old 4 door structures have gone,tech screwed the inner and outer 2 door quarters in place and I’m really happy with panel gaps etc,just need to pull all the panels off,do some minor repairs the weld everything in place

Hi mate, good backstory and its always the case of letting cars go that you really dont want too!..............If it was me i'd go the 'whole hog' and do the Zakspeed tribute, especially as the DVLA will q it no matter what, so go all out on it, as nice as the Mexico's are, (and rare), a Zakspeed kitted MK2 is even rarer i suppose! (standard is boring) ..life's to short mate! 🙂, go for it.

Zakspeed is really cool. I don't know if I've seen one with a Zakspeed kit on it, I saw hundreds with farely standard arches and body shells. But Zakspeed kit on it would be really cool to see.

@nealthomas5943 Yeah it's going to be a handful, the MK1 Escort doing next will hopefully be more sensible but, brother has 3 engine options 2.1 c20xe , c20let all steel internals and ran 500bhp in corsa b previously and now looking at another cosworth engine 😀

@nealthomas5943 That's mint, that will handle lovely, and you can wring its neck,I used to have a mk1 estate with a formula ford crossflow and twin 40s on it , nailed it every where and loved it, sold it and now got a black mk1 estate with pinto and twin 40s from my mate Meerkat as couldn't let it go outside the car club and missed mine so much

Got a question front struts the top nut on the inserts am I right in thinking it’s torqued to 34lb and is there a torque setting for the rear shocks many thanks 👍👍

Great work! I run JBW superlites on my mk2 Ghia. The rear studs are the same as you say, not much protuding but ive had no issues in over 2 years. I did fit longer studs in the front when i changed to coilovers and fitted new RS alloy hubs.

Hello @tobywalker813,sadly the engine/booster/master were all photoshopped in the thumbnail so we’re never actually fitted. I believe they’re all Mazda MX5. It was to give the impression I’d fitted a Mazda engine when really I’d fitted the N/A cosworth engine

It’s not the first time I’ve seen the underside of a servo this pitted,probably had a fluid leak early in its life and was never addressed hence years of rust but it’s only the underside and it still functions

There must be a fair amount of Custom looking RS's out there that started life as a Basic. I remember it all going on during the 80's when these cars were reaching the scrap yards. It just shows by the small amount of genuine Basics you see these days.
