Just got a brand new Kayo 60 for my son. Dealer said it is cold natured and we needed to run it with the choke partially on at all times. Well, that can't be right but what am I going to do when it's a gift for the holiday and it's a week away. We've got it to run one time, barely... guess I'll take it back and see if they can get it running.
@joerowe24732 күн бұрын
Comment might be a little too late but yes with choke fully closed it will die and what I did for my sons is slight bump open, start it and let it warm up a little bit and let him ride. With it being slightly open it doesn't sound like a lean or rich idle and engine doesn't bog at all while riding. So far its a great starter bike and runs great. I am impressed with it and I have no complaints and he loves it.

Ik this is old but before putting on the sensor do you have to turn off car unplug battery?
@JoeFloCreates22 күн бұрын
A lot of service manuals say to disconnect battery when working with electronic sensors, but I usually don't unless it's something that is hard wired. This harness is protected so I just made sure the car was off. I think you are talking about performing a reset of the codes on the ECU, and for that we use an OBDii scanner.

This one went to a new home, but it did give us some cold start trouble occasionally. It sometimes took a bit to get warmed up, then it was good to go.

How many miles at the time of check engine light?
@JoeFloCreates2 ай бұрын
I think this was at around 140,000 miles. I’m currently at about 185,000 miles and still going strong.
@TroyD-vo1bz2 ай бұрын
Good to know they are really robust engines I have a much older 05 as well as an 06 express 3500. My 05 has 56K and the O6 has 79K. Engines have been good. The O6 is a cargo van so it needs brakes and front end work. The O5 is actually a road trek camper van. If there's any suggestions you have for maintenance at around 60,000 let me know. I'l be taking a 2500 mile road trip in May with the O5. In some ways I think the older ones were even more robust with much simpler transmissions. Chevy went to a 6 speed if I'm not mistaken. Did the 13 have a 6 liter? Both of mine are the 6 liter.

@ 6.0 flex fuel in my 13. I’d recommend a trans flush and check your water pump.
@TroyD-vo1bz2 ай бұрын
Funny you mentioned those two things as those were the exact two things I did this past summer on the 06. I was planning to do a transmission fluid change on the O5. I thought that water pumps were good for over 100,000 though. The only reason I changed mine on the 06 was the thermostat went out, so decided to do the water pump and tensioner as well as idler pulley and hoses all at the same time as a preventative measure. Everything was actually working at that point though.

FYI the fuse blows if you use the replacement bulb number form the manual as they pull too much current. The bulbs should be 7443's. The manual al says 7444's if you add up the voltage they pull slightly more then the fuse is rated for, causing the fuse to melt occasionally
