Remaking an MMO is no easy task, not to say near impossible. Might as well just make a whole new one, but FFXI players wouldn't be too happy to see their game spiral down into oblivion. No, I'll bet more on a Revamp rather than a Remake.

FFXI was a joyless endeavor of grinding and people being insidious trolls. The player-based market also made gearing up ridiculously hard. Husband and I were routinely ridiculed for roleplaying in public, had a stalker, and saw people make others feel bad for not being skilled. It was extremely toxic back then. However, I feel its combat and setting were vastly superior to XIV. So if we had XIV's more accepting community and XI's combat and get rid of the losing XP thing, I'd be fine with an FF MMO like that. A hybrid that focuses on challenging but FAIR combat but modern conveniences so that you don't have to give your every second to the game if you don't want to.

Honestly I want an MMO to have the same Combat system as XI. There was just something great about it. But lets not do the level down system again please. I still have nightmares about leveling down in Yuhtunga Jungle.

Sadly I think any of the assets gained from the XI Mobile version will just be used in the XI alliance raid

I hope SE remakes 11 but I just don't see it happening. They have 14 now and if SE did remake 11 I don't have faith they would stay true to what it is. I played 11 when it was new. Dying had consequences. It moved slower. Partying without the best gear ment you got kicked or not invited. No warping around to wherever you wanted. In today's market it just seems unlikely. But who knows. Maybe all those dark souls like lovers would eat it up

Would love to see FFXI come to modern consoles. Used to play on ps2 but had to give it up due to just how much of a time sink it was. With the trust system now, I could see myself really getting back into it on ps5.

A remake won’t happen. FFXI was a wonderful game that was played by countless individuals and endured for over 20 years. This is truly a successful game. Its legacy is cemented and it gave way to XIV. There’s nothing else the game has to be or has to do. It’s fine for what it is and in time will fade into the sunset.

Back when ffxi was fresh and actually good there would often be someone running for their life from an angry gob or yagudo and my buddy and i would take off from our campfire to try and help rescue them. Was pretty common back when mobs would never give up until defeated or zoned.

Personally I'd rather have a sequel or new game than a remake or remaster. 11 was amazing for its time but we should just appreciate it for what it was. 14 outclasses it in graphics and battle mechanics so they'd have to change 11 too much and then it just winds up a different game

Ff11 is our home. We may journey to another games for a while or while longer but we always return. And if our home gets an upgrade thats even better id say!

FFXI will always be my fav MMO. But no, unlike many I don't wish for a remake. Mainly because times changed and I simply don't like how games are treated now. 75 era was my favourite because the mentality was different. Now everything changed, companies and players too. So even if they did remake that, it would not be the same experience, which was the essence of FFXI to me. Besides, the way Square Enix have been treating the Final Fantasy Franchise, I honestly don't think we'll get a FFXI like ever. Which is good.

I would pay full price for a single player version of this. Same game, graphics, interface, etc. I know it's outdated but it has such nostalgia. Just make it much easier to level up, and soloable in its entirety (or maybe some kind of bot/mercenary system if necessary).

I loved the o.g. skillchains, having to communicate and plan skill chains so the mages could MB for insane damage gave melee a purpose outside of just hit hard. Horizon Xi is a great server run by the community in 75 era ffxi.

Hey I'd try it if they tossed it back on console. Back when it was new there was no way my rural ass dial up could handle it. And seeing how complex it is to get working on pc and most of all I hate gaming on pc. My brain still views PC gaming as bad ports of SNES and Genesis games and I often call steam or pc releases of games as the final beta as most often when they go from PC to console they are a lot more stable. But yeah ramble aside I would be down for a remake, like hot damn shut up and take my money. More so if Yoshi P's studio handles it. As a long time 14 player his team spoils us. The story seems pretty good from what I've heard and it remains the only main FF game I've yet to try. Sure I may not have beaten all of them and some I wish I never tried but sides 3 bad ones the series is one of the strongest in gaming history so it shouldn't have a part left behind by time.

I have to reallllly meet people in the middle with an ffxi remake, but I also do not think this will happen, and I mean that respectfully. It would be a steeeeep feat to achieve, on top of that, it truly wouldn't encompass ff11 at all, a remake would do the game injustice.

17 and 9-remake. If anything, the raids and such for 14 are more of a send-off for 11 than anything. A modern day version would just upset the original playerbase anyway.

As a former player of both FF11 and FF14, I would be a lot more interested in a Western release for Dragon Quest X

I think a remake could be good but I think it would have to be built from the ground up on complete new software, or perhaps just make a whole new MMO, to avoid having the issues FFXIV suffers from it's 1.0 spaghetti code nightmare.

It isn't just the mobs, they have been putting in textures unique to FFXI for a while. They have put in textures for sky, sea, Ra'kaznar, and the undersea ruins. If they're wanting to remake the game in the cheapest way possible I don't think there is a better way to do it. The new alliance raid could be the excuse to add in some more the more exclusive models like the FFXI summons, and we know Shadow Lord is coming. The only beastmen we're missing at this point are the yagudo, orcs, and quadav, and there's no way you can do a Shadow Lord theme'd raid without the beastmen of FFXI.

Who is to say the upcoming FF14 Echoes of Vana’diel raid is a science project for SE to see player’s interest and likely is coming out with something FF11 related? Only time will tell and I for one would like to see the story of 11 beyond what I’ve completed after Rise of Zilart.

I'm a sentimental idiot, currently playing ff14 but there will never ever ever ever ever ever be as an enjoyable game as ff11. And if they make a re-release for PS5... I'm going to have such a crisis in my hands. Might have to quit 14 and finally go back home. Ooh for those somber melancholy evenings on Miseurax Coast...

Nexon is the MMO killer, let's all hope they never touch FFXI. I still play FFXI on classic private servers, and it's a chill experience. I agree with the sentiment that XI deserve far more attention and respect. It's an amazing game, even today. If SE ever fixes their priorities, then I would hope they are the ones to re-launch FFXI as a rewound experience. They could make a lot of money modernizing the graphics while keeping the original gameplay and starting servers out at the very beginning, allowing people to relive those glory days and all new memories of what made XI great. Sure, we have private servers that try to do this, like Nasomi, Eden, and Horizon. But, the sheer scope of reversing XI is proving, even after all these years to be too much for hobbyists, not to mention servers like Horizon are inundated with immature ownership and the players eventually pay the price of that incompetence after hours or months of hard word is made trivial due to some neckbeard's whimsical psychopathy. It's just not worth the risk for a lot of people.

FFXI was an amazing game. I remember how good it felt to hit lv 75 PLD, I am a veteran player. The community and the challenges in the game had were so great. I sunk literal playable years into this game over 2003-2008. I have been playing FFXIV for the past few years and cannot help but feel that FFXI has already been remade, and they've called it FFXIV. There are so many similarities between the two games.
