It feels like I'm right back at that time, where I made the journey here, sneaking past monsters way too difficult to fight, all for that sweet Chocobo license, the very moment it became available at lv20. Spotting *[Rings]* and *[Earrings]* in the auction house; finally something to put in those slots, as nobody ever sold any in Windurst. The next thing I know, running all the way back to farm stacks of Beehive Chips, so I could afford the +1 version for an instant boost to my STR, Attack and Defense and whatever +🔥 meant at that time, thinking that maybe it meant my attacks would produce additional damage in the form of fire! I looked forward to show off my _newfound powers_ in the next combat, ready to absolutely explode on the first enemy, only to learn that I was doing the exact same amount of damage and taking the exact same amount of damage. 🤤 Ah, the power of FFXI and its HQ gear, with a x10 markup, for a difference that was seemingly undetectable at times. Fond memories~

theres truly something special about FFXI that somehow made getting HQ gear seem totally worth it. maybe the difference was marginal at best, but you knew the people around who would /check your equipment had a few jealous words to say

@@wilddragonchase if you hq everything there is a clear difference, one hq piece unless its one of those that has a unique boost. yea the gear feels special even though its only a little bit, you put in work to get it.
