The arm is looking good. I’m sure it will be great getting back to doing some exercise. On the modern unique cards like the Boston Strong and Opening Day image variations are not that well publicized, so like you said there is not a market for the cards and therefore likely to not fetch what it could be. With that said, a card is only worth what someone will pay for it. Similar with OPC vs Topps, you would think that the OPC would be worth a lot more based on the supply, but not always the case. Those are some really nice Venezuelan cards you found. I love the league leaders cards. Vintage cards look great in a tux.

Thanks again, Brian, you help this community more than you even realize my friend!

Concepcion was a nice player. he is not going to the HOF, though. I only have recent experience w/ SGC sending them '62s. like your '68s, I don't really have an understanding of what they saw on those cards to grade them lower than I thought. I even had them under a 10 loupe before sending. ty for sharing your cards. seems you are attracted to rarities and oddities which is cool! that Concepcion card is pretty darn cool.
@blixcardsАй бұрын
I actually agree, the stats aren't there although the AS appearances are high. Like Marty Marion, etc.. I do like the more off the radar things if I can help it and find good prices. If I'm buying, I like the more scarce stuff with higher prices that can still have value with obvious damage. I have modern-2019 cards though for the most part in my collection to grade in the future but I like to go on vintage buying sprees to get a few Hall of Famer RCS and grade cool stuff to sell to offset the cost of the keepers. If that makes sense haha. . Thank you very much for watching and weighing in, I appreciate that!

@blixcardsАй бұрын
Hey, much appreciated LV! If I'm buying cards to grade I prefer vintage by far. It's more fun for me and with lower grades on the right cards still having good value, you really can't lose. The prices were too good to pass up on the Venezuelans. Then again, I don't need any inventory from the 1980's-2020 at all so that does make sense. I'm also getting a bit bored of FB cards and modern metallic/chrome cards. Other people's are intriguing but I just have so many and strongly prefer paper flagship Topps and those parallels for my PC. Going to do a similar plan as you next year with my 1990's-2010's cards 30-50 at a time with PSA Collector's Club. Likewise LV, thank you sir!

Great Palmer Venny, Ben. I'm an Orioles fan. I've got the Topps '66 base card rookie, but am not sure if I've seen one in person before; the Venny variation. Palmer is so under appreciated/under valued in the hobby. I think he won more games than any other pitcher of, the 1970's decade... my apologies, however, if my opinion on grading offended you. Too much for me to write out, in a comment what I want to see from grading companies... That being said, we should all collect, the way we want to collect...that, is a fact.
@blixcardsАй бұрын
Thanks man! There is a beautiful raw copy with a pen mark on eBay right now, she'll take offers. There was an SGC 2 on COMC for a while but looks like it sold in the last day or two, wow... just checked. I agree, it's a bit odd he and Carlton don't get appreciated enough. I think most great pitchers not named Sandy, Ryan or Seaver are grossly undervalued. You may be right on 1970's victories, I know it was Jack Morris in the 1980's... Oh I'm not offended, I took it tongue in cheek. I only re-used the word dumb in jest. I don't care who grades what or doesn't at all haha... I do know graded cards sell for more, that was my factual aspect. Aside from anomalies, that generally is a fact. I totally respect the guys who won't grade. I've always planned on it because my collection is enormous and I have so many duplicates of big cards to pare down just to see where I even stand! I personally invested in myself with my savings this year and started an online card shop by grading cards. I don't like dealing in non-graded cards unless it's through COMC. Graded cards offer so much freedom as a seller - and confidence cards won't be nit-picked or returned. I always hear both arguments. It takes a lot of cash to do what I did. I don't have a job and being disabled, my state is supposed to help me find a job - but they aren't... which leaves me this one option for income. So, I literally have to maximize my collection that way. But, in my defense, I'm into my collection for 1/10th pennies on the dollar, I have been extremely Blessed. So another $10-12 into a card makes so much sense. For example, I bought a 2014 Topps Update Mookie Betts on eBay raw for $3.50 years ago.. $12 more into it turned it into an SGC 10. I have 4 high graded copies of that card and spent $16 on the packs/singles and $48 to grade the 4 copies and voila... Thank you Jesus! My tale would take a year or so to type my friend, and I didn't take offense haha... Even when I jabbed back I was totally kidding. Everyone always thinks I'm sinister online haha, but it's so hard to interpret texts/comments so I get it. Then again they may have heard my music... I'm always an outcast, I'm used to being misunderstood. All good man!

@blixcardsАй бұрын
They are all very nice copies and arguably under-graded. SGC has been very harsh. Pretty much with the Unselds, I still cannot believe they didn't take eye appeal into consideration. Whoever graded went by the letter and ignored how nice they are. There are well over 100 cards I graded at SGC this year I highly regret not sending to PSA. They tallboys are pack-fresh sharp all around besides the Willis Reed and maybe a Bradley. Bradley is an interesting guy, Rhodes Scholar, etc, so I imagine so! Some of these are still available for trade but I'll have to start listing them for sale soon. Your comments and views are always highly appreciated!
@90sKidCardTasteАй бұрын
@@blixcards what’s your decision process for what you submit to PSA vs SGC? I’ve only graded w/ PSA so far
@blixcardsАй бұрын
@@90sKidCardTaste I totally base that on the wording of the PSA and SGC grading standards at this point. For at least a year now, SGC is completely ignoring their motto of eye appeal factoring in on 1960's-1980's cards. Hall of Famer RCs especially. As a result, I won't send SGC anything from 1960-1989 that does not have Obvious damage until that changes back to normal. So, my advice is follow each grading scale 100% literally if you try out SGC! SGC rarely sells anywhere near PSA either, so cost for grading per card value matters as well. When SGC goes as low as $12 or you can get bulk rates with them, it may be worth it for certain cards. SGC is crazy quick also if time is a factor and very rarely do they upcharge. In fact I don't believe anything after 2000 CAN be upcharged at SGC. Hope that helps!

My Dad is bullish on coins. I don't have Gold because it's expensive, just Silver. But I think this could be the new norm. We will see. They are both up big thus far in 2024. Silver is 40 percent up in past year. I think.
@blixcardsАй бұрын
This same buddy and I were just discussing this yesterday... We both believe 100% $2400-2500 is the new floor on gold - minimum. With silver, it's been at $50 before and that's before it was needed anywhere near the level it is now. Silver even has healing properties! I literally would have never healed of past injuries I've had without a product called Silver Sulfadiazine. Silver has a long way to go and the gold:silver ratio right now serves silver very well as a decent buy I would think. Assuming the trend continues. Nobody can deny that JP Morgan and other "investors" constantly keep the numbers down so they can transfer wealth far below true market value on precious metals. But when that changes, if it ever does, they will be the ones holding the biggest pile of physical bullion. The fact gold is so pricey in comparison should bring more attention toward silver when/if people wake up. Everyone keeps trying to time the stock market or use DraftKings weekly for these types of gains, but the answer is hiding in plain sight! Too much of an instant gratification mentality in investing and financial strategy these days. Same thing in the card industry!

I played saxophone for a couple years in jr high, was a low-key DJ for a while in Detroit and the surrounding metro area and I do write electronic music on occasion.
