A beautifully made film which explores the conflicts between human beings and wildlife. And how our opinions vary regarding the natural world. We are the supreme apex predator of planet Earth! We are almost like ‘Gods’ compared to all other life. When another species starts to dominate certain ecosystems and interferes with our selfish human interests, we reach for our guns! Fortunately for us, we’re at the top of the food chain. “Humans messed up the natural order of things in this country millennia ago” A cruel planet! Survival of the fittest! No easy answers to this particular problem, when two human factions are at loggerheads.

Question How do they react to 1. BOAR Now appearing in UK 2. Cattle for example here in London. We have super Old English Longhorns keeping scrub and rough shrubs at bay in Epping Forest
@nationalgamekeepersorganis986618 күн бұрын
Deer / boar don't seem to interact and exist in the same environments Large deer species can often be seen browsing in the same fields as cattle across the UK

Can anyone explain to me why the Hen Harrier is a rare bird of prey and why did it decline rapidly across England over the 20th century? I'd love to know. Great to see Tom the keeper indirectly explain he's not going to persecute them while trying to avoid a direct mention to the idea that they get shot by others. "We're not gonna be pushing back against having them here" has a heavy implication of a pushback elsewhere, but of course the end of the video explains that pushback doesn't exist, so it's slightly odd that was something he needed to say in the first place!

This is certainly the opposite of what's happening on the grouse Moors up North where gamekeepers actively kill all raptors. This comment will no doubt be taken down soon!
@nationalgamekeepersorganis986621 күн бұрын
The statistics simply don't agree with you. More harriers are breeding and fledging on grouse moors than on land without game management. The same is true for hobby, kestrel, sparrow hawk etc.
@dav613121 күн бұрын
@nationalgamekeepersorganis9866 you know that you are deliberately misleading the public. I work in the North York Moors. Several of my customers are farmers and gamekeepers. Off the record they will readily admit that if there is a pheasant shoot and particularly on grouse moors- all raptors have to go. Fact. Up here that particularly means rarities like Short eared owls, Hen Harriers and Goshawks. On top of that, up here we have pole traps for raptors, illegal deer hunting with dogs, Badger baiting etc.

Couple of years ago went out lamping I could see eyes shining at a corner of a field very low to the ground,I was about to head for home but the shine I was picking up by the lamp I had to go for a look,again I was so fkn disappointed,we have some dears that have escaped from somewhere, some fkr had shot the 6 just left them there .this has nothing to do with poaching,these were after a kill that’s it with a high powered rifle,they had been shot by .22 hornet.what a waste they were far to young to be killed. .

Cant you check every trap 24h? I like the cute baby bird at the end of the clip that most likly gona snap its head off this trap

Packham is neither a Conservationist ,neither is he a wildlife enthusiast. He is a poisonous individual that gets perverted pleasure from preventing those of us that genuinely care for the countryside and it's wildlife ,from carrying out the essential management required to see our waders and game species from thriving . I have had the misfortune of having him on our estate some years ago to host Autumnwatch . A more ignorant individual you would struggle to find .

@eifiondavies18893 ай бұрын
Not all of us are like that,I could write a book on poaching.im out whilst the wind + rain blows everyone in bed I’m out,I will never take a harem.i hunt land,river,beach.i love it.use a lot of snares in so many different ways,use corn laced for pheasant,use all kind of nets,for land river,sea I work alone I always stay with the nets.i have taught myself to use a hessian sack with weight tied off keep weight + net separate.tie a long pc of string to attached to the lower end of the net attached to the weight at bottom of sack bend the net from right to left+ from left to right,continue until the net is completely inside sack,keep a long piece of string attached to top part of net,find a nice deep pool,tie the string to your trouser belt grab top of sack throw it as far as possible usually far end of pool,wait couple of minutes for sack to sink to the bottom of pool,start pulling the string attached to your belt back towards you,as the net is puled back,the net float parts comes to the surface of the pool.now your net is set,ready for the sea trout+ salmon.the float I use doesn’t show at the surface around an inch bellow the surface.if a bailiff walks buy he will see nothing. By the way I don’t poach for money,only for food,+ the freezer,I don’t buy meat,fish ,pheasant,pigeon..I’ve even after one proto type after another,I now able to snare a pheasants during the day,it’s a length of stainless steel stiff wire with a small piece of string ,it works time after time,the bird doesn’t. Suffer its dead in a second,keep practicing on your chicken ,place the string on the ground with open loop put some corn in this loop,it works everytime. Be ready to grab your chicken,otherwise you will have chicken for supper.

It's still illegal, no matter how good you say you are at it. You are breaking the law.
Steel does not kill larger game nearly as cleanly as lead. Anyone saying "steel breaks clays just as well" knows nothing about game shooting and is just a virtue signaller. (BASC, NGO fall into this category) Having to use more open choke just ruins the pellet density at any distance, try head/neck shooting a goose at 50 yards with 1/2 choke.

As someone that grew up in Canada and now lives in the country in Europe I am saddened by the influence of city dwelling people that fetishize animals and ignore the big picture. People that think food comes from a grocery store and who think that without man's intervention "nature will sort itself out" ( to quote this vid) should leave the management of the countryside to those of us that understand it and love it because we live in it.

I had a three storey rabbit hutch which I used to leave open for the rabbit to come and go at will. I wondered why he stopped using it....2 days later I went outside and found a Magpie had gone in and ascended the two sets of stairs right to the top where the food was, next day there were two up there feeding. My Patterdale puppy immediately saw her opportunity, she followed the birds up the stairs and within the blink of an eye both were dead. The rabbit never returned to his mansion but chose to live under an old hay trailer in the field, every morning he came through the cat flap for a biscuit, the Patterdale and he were friends, he lived to be age 7.

It is clear , this us a underhand tactic of the police not to issue certificates , Rfds are closing down all iver the country due to less demand for licenced weapons that have to have a ticket issued by the police to own, RFDs like everyone else have bills to pay it is s buisness to o which they have to produce paperwork with every sale dicumented , if no sales due to no licences being issued they go bust which is the inyention of the police forces across the UK , no Re zfDs no ammunition available to use through a weapon by a already licenced gun owner , this is a underhand attack in field sports with a long term olan to rid the uk of all types of weapons inbluding bow and arrow , catapult, crossbow ,knives etc , the police are laid via tax payers contributions and council tax , if businesses based on sales of country sports interests shut down nobodyvwill be able to purchase a rifle even though they have s valid certificate , its about time you all woke up to what is happening in the shithole United Kingdom soon to be run my a militant police force who have more and more ex army serving in the ranks , those soldiers may have been to the falklands and actually killed other soldiers , it is my understanding ghat once a sildier has taken a human life it makes it easier the second time , shoild that ex soldier be dealing with the general public , shojld that soldier be issued with a firearm certificate haveing taken a life already , ex armed forces are looked upon favourably by police forces because they are seen as one of the gang .
@KS-bf7si6 ай бұрын
The police are using the slightest excuse not to issue certificates , they even snatch sub12lbft air rifles when attending disturbances. Yh his video seems to me as if your trying to play both sides in a candid way of criticising the militant rule the police forces are gradually applying to the UK , there will be no arms in the UK without a licence within the next ten years , the police are obstructing licence applications , why is it too hat car drivers do not have to go through the same level of scrutiny as anyone applying for a SGC FAC ,when the vehicle driven by a 17 year-old to 70 year-old can be even more lethal to than a shotgun, a rim fire or FAC air rifle or come to that a sub12, sub 6 air weapon? This country is heading to be gunless forced upon us by a militant rule police force who each individual county have their own non existent laws that they apply . The police forces are commissioned by our sovereign king to make this country safe , they could start by getting rid of the serving corrupt police officers who abuse their powers invested in them. Never trust a copper serving or retired .

What I would like to know, is why such emphasis is placed on a signed letter by your GP ? The time before I last renewed my shotgun cert'. I was asked if I would agree for my GP's surgery to pass on any information that would be deemed detrimental to me continuing to hold a certificate. I agreed, as it made sense. When my last renewal came around, I now had to supply a signed letter from my GP at my own cost. I couldn't and still cannot see the significance of this 'letter' having any bearing on me being a fit person to hold a firearm. The certificate lasts for 5 years, yet the letter is only valid for the day it was signed. It cannot guarantee that I won't be a suitable certificate holder for the following 5 years. Yes, by all means pass on any detrimental information that may come to light whilst holding a certificate, but let's drop the pretence that this costly and time wasting GP's letter has any relevance or importance - it isn't worth the paper it is written on.
@stefenney31266 ай бұрын
The 'problem' has been created by bureaucracy. I was a Police officer in the 1980's and Shotgun/Firearms applications/renewals were handed out each month to uniformed patrol officers. You would complete all enquires within 2 weeks and this was between dealing with all your other duties. You would do simple checks, such as the Police national computer, plus any Intelligence checks to see if the applicant had ever been arrested/convicted/stop-checked etc. Home visits were carried out and security storage would be checked. It all changed after 'Hungerford' when the enquiry recommended 'specialists' to complete the applications. At the end of the day, they couldn't do any further checks than the original officers.
