Wow she doesn't look like she has sever joint deformities. I have severe joint deformities.I've been avoiding having to do surgery but now it's getting harder to walk. I'm also developing bone spurs in my Meta ta tarsal area.Not sure if it's related to the severe hammer Toes But i'm terrified to have to do surgery

Yes, it is scary. But I would get a few opinions from surgeons in your area in regard to what surgery would they perform, what area of the foot would it 'fix', how they were going to do it, what would the post operative period be like, etc. As for this patient, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And she wanted the skin lesions removed from her toes (the eliptical incisions) and then her toes straightened and shortened to fit better/ not hurt in tight dress shoes and look better in sandals.

So I was shot at the base of my great toe the bullet went through and through right at the joint of the toe. I already received a surgery to clean it up and take care of some bone spurs. My dr mentioned in the future I may need bone fusion. However I'm currently 40 years old with 3 young children that I need to keep up. Should I consdier the fusion or another surgery or perhaps more intensive physical therapy. Currently it seems the condition or getting worse in the recent months if the pain level im currently in is anything to go off. Thanks for your time and the great video.

How much post surgery discomfort will be experienced??
@DrRobertJMooreIII
@DrRobertJMooreIII 6 күн бұрын
Very little. In fact if a local block is performed after surgery with a little dexamethasone mixed in there’s little to no inflammation. I’ve had patients take a few Tylenol or Advil after surgery and get by. Staying off the foot for the first 72 hours takes care of most of the Swelling and pain. Otherwise a light dose of hydrocodone is necessary sometimes but on a scale of 1 to 10, digital surgery never exceeds a five or six.

Hello, I have “normal toes and toenails” but u don’t like the depth of my toenail… is it possible to have my nail bed lengthened? So there’s more nail and less skin to look at? My feet don’t look nice after iv had a pedicure because there’s such little nail to be painted. I want a deeper nail without it going over my toe which is what iv had to do in the past to achieve that look!

Unfortunately there are very few solutions for deformed toenails or other problems like thickness or discoloratoin. Your 'matrix' or the row of cells behind your cuticle that grow the nail plate are set with your geneitcs. The only way to have more nail real estate is to push back your cuticle weekly like they do at the nail salons.

Hello doctor, please, I am suffering from severe pain, especially in the winter, to treat this cyst at the level of the knee, just above the fibula bone. The surgeons here in Algeria told me that removing this cyst of water or emptying it with an injection is dangerous, because it is located near the main nerve responsible for leg movement, so what should I do, please, doctor?

Oh I wish to get a permanent solution to my toenails! They got infected pretty often when I was a child and it hurt like hell. Now I can alleviate the growth so they don't break my skin but I have to be careful and treat them with physical straighteners many times a year.

there are several creams you can use before the injection, but nothing will completely numb the toe except the shot. Emla cream is a popular brand,. I would ask your podiatrist about this prior to your visit. Hope this helps, be brave!

I think I have a bone spur on top of my right foot. It feels like a bony lump and causes intermittent pain, sometimes resulting in me limping. I do a lot of walking in my job (postman) which obviously isn’t helping. In fact it’s probably my job that has caused it. I definitely need to see a doctor soon.

Hi Dr. Moore, I accidentally slammed my medial malleolus into the side of a pool. I had a bad bruise but was not in bad pain . The bruise went away. This was 3 weeks ago. Last week i developed what looks just like a ganglion cyst where that bruise was. Is that possible to develop a ganglion cyst after an injury? Thanks for any info.
@dr.robertjmooreiii6132
@dr.robertjmooreiii6132 12 күн бұрын
yes to your question, you can develop a ganglion after an injury, but like most of these questions on this venue, it is not possible to give an exact answer without a physical examination. But in this area, a direct blow could be many things including a fracture, hematoma, etc. and it depends on the location of the 'bump' and tactile presence. Remember, ganglions form from weak/dammaged joint capsules and tendon sheaths....

I usually don't respond to these since ego is not a part of my reason to do what I do, but thank you. At my age, it's nice to see appreciation in this hypercritcal society. And the talent was from my Dad who taught me how to use every tool imaginable in the 60s and 70s. The blood, open tissue and stress of the operating room is simply repetition and adaptation. But again, thank you, you made my morning.

I went to get mine checked out and the doctor suggested shockwave therapy as an alternative to aspiration or surgery. I can't find anything online about this method, except for "electroacupuncture" which isn't the same thing. The shockwave therapy is said to take 2-3 treatments at $260 each, insurance doesn't cover it. Idk seems like a costly experiment when I can't even find proof it works. Have you heard of this?
@AskDrMoore
@AskDrMoore 14 күн бұрын
I do not perform this in my clinic nor do I know a lot about using shockwave therapy for ganglions. I do know that the device is intense enough to attenuate (disrupt and release) the plantar fascia so I can assume that it can disrupt and possibly rupture and drain the ganglion cyst. But if it's not working after couple of treatmetnts..... just like my aspiration and then injectiion follow up with cortisone treatments in the clinic, if the cyst contnues to return and cause the the patient discomfort, surgery is simple and a good option. Otherwise they are benign and if they do not cause any pain, surgery is something you can delay until it is more convenient timewise or monetarily down the road.

Anyone you see saying 'OWW' I had an igrown toenail for one year on one side, then, surprise surprise the other side was ingrown aswell. The most painful part are the injections (I had four but only felt two) then the chemical gets placed at the base and you don't get one on that toe ever again! Coming from a teen who is passionate abt ballet. Hope this helps! ❤

Yes, not only can it help, but whatever is found upon inspection can be cleaned up, removed or even procedures like subchondroplasty can be performed. I would have an MRI performed to see what condition the other soft tissue structures are in , like medial and collateral lateral ligaments. Then find someone who does this procedure on frequent basis to evaluate what procedures you need to perform, If any

Yes, a bit graphic in the operating room, but with a local anesthesia block and small amount of dexamethsone, there is minimal pain post operatively. Combined with good patient compliance by taking prescribed pain medication if needed and elevating the foot for 48-72 hours, there is even less discomfort. In fact, we've have had some patients who took only extra strenght tylenol post operatively.

So I am 66and had open reduction surgery of ankle ( 2 of them in February) I shattered my ankle and double open fracture of tibia and fibula . I have bone graft on ankle. I am thinking 6 months from surgery for recovery but hoping after PT to be able to walk normally again. It is the most difficult thing I’ve ever been through in my life ! I see doc. In a week or so and will have lots of questions, Currently in heavy boot that I am not allowed to bear weight in. Very frustrating trying to lift it. Cast was lighter.

For 6 years, I dealt with at least 1 ingrown toenail on either foot, on both sides of the toe sometimes. I would finally dig it out & cut it only for it to come back a month or two later. If you get these chronically like I did, just get the full nail removed and have them cauterize it so that it will never grow back. It sounds much worse than it is. I spent years in pain all day at work because I was too afraid of the procedure but honestly it's not bad. The only part that sucks is the shots then you don't feel much of anything.

Wow. I just sent this to my son who wants to be a pediatrician. I had a very similar operation when I was 17. I'm 43 now. I also had a couple screws placed on the other side as well. I sheared the inner "ball" off my ankle (I don't know the medical term). Although from time to time my ankle gets irritated after say multiple days of swimming etc.. I marvel at the fact people like everyone in this video has literally made my life normal. I couldn't imagine getting my injury 40 yrs ago. Much respect. I couldn't do what you guys do. Much respect 🙏

Wow I was trying to find out how a bone spur would effect Robert Gasser who is a young STAR pitcher for the Brewers who was held back at the last second of spring training with a bone spur in his throwing elbow. So I tried to find out the modern fix for such an issue and to find out from a guy like you how this will effect him as a long term pitching prospect . Can you answer that for me . Robert Gasser has a bone spur in his throwing elbow. I would love to hear what your take on why the Brewers sidelined him because they discovered it but then did 0 to actually remove it and say they are not planning on surgery . So how does this actually work? What will Gasser lose on his pitches because of the spur?
