I've never felt so seen. I can relate so much. Another thing that helped my son (19 months) was I started wearing this waffle texture shirt instead of my normal cotton nursing long sleeve to bed so he could feel no access to breasts and the texture difference. We had a few previous long nights where I would go on strike in the middle of the night (usually because he just nursed less than an hour prior and it wasn't helping). Last night when he would stir and sit up I'd start reciting little blue truck and bring him in to snuggle. A lot of waking, but no fits or tantrums. I'm hoping we get longer stretches like you tonight and moving forward.

I decided to night wean around 9 months because he wasn’t accepting solids and was waking up more often in the night. I cuddled him and he would fall asleep. Soon he learned to sleep through the night and eat more during the day.

Thank you so much. What a helpful video! I'm interested in how you're going with day breastfeeding? Does your toddler refuse food and want to breastfeed constantly in the day at all?

I’m on night two using this method. My 13 month old started waking up every two hours demanding to nurse. Tonight, night two, tantrums lasted 15 mins, but took about 1.5 hours of wearing him in the carrier to help him fall back asleep. Surprisingly, he took a bunch of sips of water leading me to believe that he wakes up thirsty more than hungry. I’m looking forward to finally having a stretch of uninterrupted sleep!

Thank you so much for this video. I am ready to night wean baby number three. The first two did it on their own, but this baby is just determined to stay attached to me at night. My husband took her on a six day trip to his parents for a funeral. We thought she would be weaned when she returned, however, she was even more attached when they got back!

This was helpful thank you I tried to do this when my son was 19 months old I did not succeed but. A few months later he just stoped waking in the night to feed around 20 months we have alway co slept, still are… it took a few months for him to totally stop feeding at night… I just followed my instincts…. Do what feels best for you mamas!

Oh my goodness 😂😢. Finally other moms who are having the same struggles with baby crying at night 😢. I did my first night with her last night out of frustration. She cried for about an hour and a half on and off. Fell asleep once in there. Then fell asleep for about 10-15 minutes. I also had been trying to get her to sleep in her bed before starting all this. With night weaning I quit with that at 1am and took her to sleep with me. Then she fell asleep and slept until 4:30 and cried for 5 minutes then fell asleep back asleep on top of me and slept until 6:30.

Then I nursed her ❤ and she slept for just a little bit and we were up by 6:50. She was very happy. She did not drink any water at night because she was mad me 😕. Anyways aside from the horrible crying episode it was ok…

It’s so hard to be there while they are crying. And it’s so hard to stop and not cave in and just breastfeed! The paediatrician said to continue even if they cry or else if you stop and try again over and over it confuses them. Sighhhh

My daughter sounds so similar to your daughter and I tried and gave up on night weaning before as well (just was not ready and started without enough research or prep time under my belt). Your video was so encouraging because of the similar story you have to mine. I feel more ready to try again because now feels like it's definitely the right time. Thanks!!

I'm going on a 3 day and 2 night trip in a week so I'm really hoping this works for my 14 month old son😢I've already weaned his day feedings but the night breastfeeding is a nightmare so far plus we co-sleep. I'm almost in panic mode

My mother in law told me a tip. That really works. "put your hair on the boobs" and babies really think it's something very scary. They will get scared of it.

Thankyou, this was really good to watch. My daughter is 2 and also very attached to boobies..doesn't eat much and wakes up all through the night to feed and feeds in the day too. I'm stuck in the cycle of being exhausted and taking the sleep I can get but I know on the other side of this my mental health which has suffered a lot due to sleep deprivation will be better. I am a single mum with fibromyalgia and I don't know how to get through night weaning in a way that is positive for my daughter and manage through the day to meet her needs. I've not had a break of a full nights sleep in years. How do I do this on my own?

This is so encouraging to me! My son is 15 months and nurses constantly through the night still.. I just found out that I am pregnant with our second and knew that it was time to start the process of night-weaning... I don't know that I could handle a toddler nursing on me every hour and a newborn at the same time. We also bedshare, so I was just so nervous about how I should go about it. Thank you for sharing your experience! It gives me hope!

✨ Thankyou so much for this, information like this is so few and far between. We have Co-slept & bed shared with our little girl just turned 2, still breastfed through the day and the night and we’ve just started to think about weaning her and then once weaned transitioning her into her own bed in our room still and then into her own room. Could you share your experience and tips of going from Co-sleeping to transitioning to own bed? Thankyou so much for making this! x
