OMG this is just what I needed to see. My son is 19m and I am about to nightwean. We cosleep and he nurses ALL night long, wakes up hourly or just wants to be latched. This gives me hope lol, it's so hard to find information / experiences from other moms who have babies like mine. Thank you for posting

Hi friends! I wanted to give a little update :) She's been night weaned for almost 2 weeks now and has started consistently sleeping from 7:30pm-12:30am at which point she wakes, and I bring her in with me. I still don't feed her until after 6am the next day which means she's without milk from 7:30pm-6am or later the next day... amazing! Soon we will work on pushing the 6am feed later but for now, it's working great!

This is so encouraging to me! My son is 15 months and nurses constantly through the night still.. I just found out that I am pregnant with our second and knew that it was time to start the process of night-weaning... I don't know that I could handle a toddler nursing on me every hour and a newborn at the same time. We also bedshare, so I was just so nervous about how I should go about it. Thank you for sharing your experience! It gives me hope!

Hi in the chance you see this a year later…I am in this boat currently pregnant & 13mo old nurses through night. I’m going to try this method. I’m curious how it worked out for you & how did you cut the day feeds if there were any? What’s life like now 😅

Thank you for this video.. my girl is 17 months old now and my situation is very similar to yours! I’ve actually tried this method around one month ago.. it was good at first (I mean yes, the struggle is real) but I’m not being consistent enough because after a week or so, I gave in and feed her again two to three times midnight, and that eventually lead back to old habits (which is every one to two hour feed all night, yeah, especially 4 to 7am). The reason i gave in initially was because some days, she just wouldn’t properly finish her meal, and I’m worried that she’ll be hungry in the middle of the night. I guess I’m wrong now, because you mentioned that your baby is eat so much more now throughout the day, it was such a relief to hear that, because I also always thought that maybe my daughter is not really into eating much food yet or maybe she’s nursing all night long so she isn’t eat much during the day. Now everything seems to come into senses. Thank you very much. I finally hear this from a real mom facing a very similar scenario in a very similar sleeping conditions. Even pediatrician can’t help me with her advice. Really glad to have found your video because it gives me courage to try again with the same method and real consistency

I’m so glad my video helped you mama! 💗 Toddlers are smart and they pick things up quickly. My daughter started eating more almost immediately, now she loves food and is always excited to eat. Before she couldn’t care less! It’s hard to be sleep deprived for soooo long. Listen to your instincts, it’s better for everyone to get more sleep! And the great thing about this method is you can still enjoy those snuggles if you want 🙌🏻

Very very helpful! Third child. Third none sleeper. My other two kids I day weaned first. When they hit two. Then battled the cosleep boobing all night. They didn't start sleeping til they were full time school! My third baby is 14m and I wanted to feed him til around 2 or 2.5 but I am going away for two nights in 6 months time and I feel I need it cracked before then, else he won't cope without me. Shame as well as I do enjoy the cosleeping boobing. Parenthood hey x x

I've already day weaned my 18 month old baby boy but I'm attempting to night wean and we've had a couple of very sleepless emotional nights. His dad also has to get up at 5am to go to work so I don't have his help. I did cave in and nursed at 4:45 am both nights. I still feel like it's progress because it wasn't 3 to 5 nursings a night like we were doing. I also justified the one feeding because I don't want to be too full and get mastitis again. I got mastitis when I weaned from day time feedings. So I've decided that after a few nights of the one 5 am feeding I would nurse once every other night for a few more nights before I quit completely. I realize that this will be a longer process but I feel like quitting cold turkey will be more difficult for both of us.

I’m on night two using this method. My 13 month old started waking up every two hours demanding to nurse. Tonight, night two, tantrums lasted 15 mins, but took about 1.5 hours of wearing him in the carrier to help him fall back asleep. Surprisingly, he took a bunch of sips of water leading me to believe that he wakes up thirsty more than hungry. I’m looking forward to finally having a stretch of uninterrupted sleep!

I think we are in a very similar situation. My toddler is 19 months old and I’ve tried the Dr Jay Gordon method the last 2 nights (even though I’ve been considering it since he was 10-11 months). I felt like this is a good moment for 3 important reasons: his teeth are already erupted, he managed to go back to sleep easier without crying very very long and because I think it’s time for me too to sleep 6-7 hours straight. I hope we see some results.

We have Co-slept & bed shared with our little girl just turned 2, still breastfed through the day and the night and we’ve just started to think about weaning her and then once weaned transitioning her into her own bed in our room still and then into her own room. Oh my goodness 😂😢. Finally other moms who are having the same struggles with baby crying at night 😢. I did my first night with her last night out of frustration. She cried for about an hour and a half on and off. Fell asleep once in there. Then fell asleep for about 10-15 minutes. I also had been trying to get her to sleep in her bed before starting all this. With night weaning I quit with that at 1am and took her to sleep with me. Then she fell asleep and slept until 4:30 and cried for 5 minutes then fell asleep back asleep on top of me and slept until 6:30.

I have no problems with my 13 month old sleeping by herself. I put her to bed at night and she goes to sleep all by herself. My 4 year old is a whole different story. He still sleeps with me. He slept in the same room with us when he was a baby, but when he was 6 months old we would rock him to sleep at night and then he slept in his crib in his room. Sometimes he would wake up and I would rock him back to sleep, but it wasn't until I was pregnant with my daughter that he would wake up screaming and and would take forever to get back to sleep. Once my daughter was born my son would not sleep in his own bed. Then again I stopped breastfeeding my son at 9 months and daughter at 10.

Did your daughter have any confusion over the earlier night feedings while also using that particular book? It seems great, but my little one is the same age and I’m afraid that telling her nursing is only for day time and then breastfeeding her to sleep would be counterproductive.

@mikeandaszj6475 3 жыл бұрын
She didn’t seem to! I only fed her before 11pm for a few nights and then I cut that all together because I was worried about confusing her. Using the book definitely helped her understand that when it’s dark out and everyone is asleep we don’t have milk. I do remember that if I did go in to feed her before 11pm I would tell her “this is the last milk until morning ok?” So maybe that helped!

Thankyou, this was really good to watch. My daughter is 2 and also very attached to boobies..doesn't eat much and wakes up all through the night to feed and feeds in the day too. I'm stuck in the cycle of being exhausted and taking the sleep I can get but I know on the other side of this my mental health which has suffered a lot due to sleep deprivation will be better. I am a single mum with fibromyalgia and I don't know how to get through night weaning in a way that is positive for my daughter and manage through the day to meet her needs. I've not had a break of a full nights sleep in years. How do I do this on my own?

I'm so glad that I didn't breastfeed my girls. Weaning of off the bottle was very easy. Another reason that I didn't breastfeed them was I wanted my husband to take turns in feeding them at night. Breastfeeding leaves it all up to mom and I wasn't willing to do that.
