Sad thing is these engines are extremely powerful and do get great fuel mileage, however there extremely problematic, mine is always something kind of thing! I’ll probably never buy a ford ever again! At least the f150 series, I’ve had desiel super duties no major issues, I’ve owned Chevy Toyota an Nissan an ram, the most problematic truck I’ve ever owned has bn a ford f 150 3.5 echoboost it’s literally always something wrong!! Leak miss fire, ect I’ve spent a small fortune to keep mine running right . All that said I get your anger, I personally don’t believe ford has sold more trucks than anyone else in the past 40 years

I would not buy those early edition eco-boost 3.5's, which were NOT initially developed to be turbocharged. It was CONVERTED into a turbo motor. Plus--I would want to see some evidence of regular FULL-synthetic oil changes at about 5000 miles--any vehicle.

really hope they changed out all the coolant line fittings and checked the oil screen and exhaust manifold studs while the turbo was out...

Dealer "10 point inspection" on used vehicles. Last two vehicles I traded to dealer, were in dealer used vehicle lot BEFORE I left with my NEW vehicle.

I have a 2015 Ford F150 3.5 Ecoboost with over 130k miles and zero problems! Change the oil with a good synthetic ( Mobil 1) and the filter every 5k miles, use only Tier 1 gasoline, replace the PCV valve, Spark plugs and Coolant every 50k miles! No catch can, intake cleaning etc and it's clean inside. 3rd generation mechanic and engine builder.

20 seconds into the video i already knew it had turbos...scrolled down, top comment mentions that it was an EB.

Just remember, when someone trades in or sells a used vehicle there is usually a reason for it. Buyer beware because your just taking on someone else's problem child that they were unwilling to stick anymore money into because it would have been cost prohibitive.

As soon as you exceed the warranty 5yr-60k powertrain see ya later truck!

So the turbo was replaced because it had stripped mounting threads and a leaky exhaust gasket?? Something isn’t adding up

I’m no mechanic but I’m pretty sure the turbo was fine. They could have put that one back on with a new oil line. No doubt in my mind they stripped the threads on that turbo. If turbo was bad you’d see oil inside where the wheel is. And the bearings on the turbo wheel would be shot and the turbo wheel would wobble.

Just bought a 2016 ram rebel and the air suspension failed 2 weeks in lol. Not covered in the warranty

Always buy the warranty when you buy a used car. Adds like $4000 for 40k warranty but is worth every penny when you are dealing with a car at 80k-120k miles. If they havent replaced the timing chain tension bars or the cam phasers, you aren't done yet.

I would sell the truck, those years of 3.5 Ecoboosts are going to be nothing but a headache. Cam phasers will be going soon as well. 2015-2017 gen 2 5.0s are awesome.

I love the color, I love the stance. That’s a cooler truck, but I would miss the 5.0 as well. Love those running boards!
