I have a 2015 Ford F150 3.5 Ecoboost with over 130k miles and zero problems! Change the oil with a good synthetic ( Mobil 1) and the filter every 5k miles, use only Tier 1 gasoline, replace the PCV valve, Spark plugs and Coolant every 50k miles! No catch can, intake cleaning etc and it's clean inside. 3rd generation mechanic and engine builder.

really hope they changed out all the coolant line fittings and checked the oil screen and exhaust manifold studs while the turbo was out...
@louisluckett2155Ай бұрын
I’m no mechanic but I’m pretty sure the turbo was fine. They could have put that one back on with a new oil line. No doubt in my mind they stripped the threads on that turbo. If turbo was bad you’d see oil inside where the wheel is. And the bearings on the turbo wheel would be shot and the turbo wheel would wobble.
@The_MM_LifeАй бұрын
I would sell the truck, those years of 3.5 Ecoboosts are going to be nothing but a headache. Cam phasers will be going soon as well. 2015-2017 gen 2 5.0s are awesome.

I would not buy those early edition eco-boost 3.5's, which were NOT initially developed to be turbocharged. It was CONVERTED into a turbo motor. Plus--I would want to see some evidence of regular FULL-synthetic oil changes at about 5000 miles--any vehicle.

Just remember, when someone trades in or sells a used vehicle there is usually a reason for it. Buyer beware because your just taking on someone else's problem child that they were unwilling to stick anymore money into because it would have been cost prohibitive.

I bought a 2016 this past spring i held out till I found a 5.0 lariat, it took me a few months till I found one with low miles on it but I finally got one. I've taken it all over this summer even to the smoky mountains and haven't had a single problem with it. Every one tried to get me to get a 3.5 turbo I told them he'll no not a chance. I've read so many people that have had nothing but problems with the 2.7 and the 3.5.

Always buy the warranty when you buy a used car. Adds like $4000 for 40k warranty but is worth every penny when you are dealing with a car at 80k-120k miles. If they havent replaced the timing chain tension bars or the cam phasers, you aren't done yet.
@BubbaOfTheZewАй бұрын
@@Eyez85 Because if you are buying a used vehicle you have no idea exactly how that vehicle was maintained before you got it. And $4000 is cheap when it comes time to get the cam phasers and the timing chain tensioners or the turbos replaced. This guy would already be ahead and he's only had the truck for a week (though this is just really bad luck).
@BubbaOfTheZewАй бұрын
@@Eyez85 Personally I'd rather just buy a used car, let someone else eat the 20-30k of depreciation in the first 2-3 years, and buy a warranty. I'm sure there are some sketchy dealerships and warranties out there, but the fine print isn't hard to read on any of the ones I've had.
