The AE-30 can export/Import user created scenes and the AE-20 can Import user created scenes. The AE-30 Ver.3.00 has ~77 more scenes than the AE-20. Can you export these scenes the AE-30 has into the AE-20?
@unclemick-synths
@unclemick-synths 7 сағат бұрын
The AE-30 can export user scenes so the extra factory scenes would all need to be saved to user scenes to make them exportable. They should be importable but obviously any scenes depending on AE-30 functionality would not fully work on the AE-20.

I’m finding zero straightforward answers to hook up my sq-1 to my korg odyssey and it’s very frustrating. I’m obviously a noob with synths and midi, so it’s mostly on me.

Everyone was a noob at some time. Looking at the Korg manual, I would think that you would connect the SQ-1 CV and Gate outputs to the CV In and the Gate In sockets. I wouldn't connect using MIDI because the SQ-1 MIDI output isn't very flexible. I see Korg also recommend connecting the Gate Out to the Trig In, that could be something to experiment with.

@ I read the manual, go figure. 😆 Yeah it’s making sense now. Voltage controls pitch and gate controls release of pitch. Thanks for the help either way. I just need to make a trip to guitar center and grab some more cables. Thanks again.

I've updated my firmware to version 3.10. I'm currently trying to find a way to reverse that. The breath control is gone. The bite calibration lasts about five minutes before disappearing.

Hi Robert, Some manufacturers keep old versions available so I looked on Roland's website and tried a Google search in case they'd just unlinked the page, but it seems that they take down old versions of the firmware. All I can suggest is to try reinstalling and double-check that you followed all the steps.

Hi Mick, I just subscribed to your KZbin channel. I'm thinking of buying a Roland AE30, but I want to know if you think the AE30 could successfully control my Behringer DeepMind 12 Analog Synth without any latency or mistriggerred notes. What do you think? Also, I'd like to record ideas onto my Zoom R4 MultiTrak Recorder using its Line Level Inputs. Does the Roland AE30 have a Line level output socket? I'd really appreciate your advice regarding these issues. Regards, John Scarratt

Hi John, Yes, there's a 1/4" stereo jack socket for line out. For the DM12, I don't know for certain myself but looking at the DM manual it says it accepts channel aftertouch and CC#2 (breath) so those are positive signs that it should work. On one synth I even used CC#29 (VCF frequency) to give me breath control. I've not had issues with latency or mistriggering with 5-pin MIDI (I don't use the Bluetooth for anything except the app).

You can set quantization to linear (quantization off), major, minor, or chromatic. The setting of Channel A and Channel B is separate.

I don't know whether linear works for MIDI, my gut feeling is it probably quantizes to semitones because MIDI is based on semitones. I only use the SQ-1 for analogue sequencing.

Yes, I generally have quantize set to chromatic when I'm controlling pitch. If I was controlling a continuous parameter such as filter cutoff, I would switch it to linear.

I just got the AE30 and there is a spring-loaded cable keeper on the far end. It works perfectly for straight cables, yet perhaps not as effective for the coiled variety. I had already devised measures similar to your helpful suggestion here, before reading the manual and discovering the keeper feature. Just the same, I still employ an elastic or hook-and-loop strap, especially when I’m in DC power mode AND using headphones. Thank you! 🎷😎👍

Thanks for watching. Yes, it can be set up though the app. I create a custom Scene for each hardware synth. One of my videos covers setting up to control another synth - Playing my Neutron from my wind synth. The AE-30 is monophonic so it doesn't send chords. It does send patch change commands. Hi there, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Unfortunately the only thing I know about the oboe is that it's a double-reed instrument. The AE has alternative fingerings that you could customize. Which would be closest to the oboe; recorder, flute, or clarinet? If you're not already a member, I thoroughly recommend joining the iSax group on Facebook because there are some very knowledgeable people there (including classical musicians) who might be able to give you better guidance because I've always stayed with sax fingering.

There are a lot of things that get forgotten. I found Lewisohn's book on the Beatles sessions eye-opening because to them a four track recorder was four times as good as a mono tape deck so they applied "direct to mono" recording techniques to each tape track. However, me being influenced by over-dubbers like Mike-Oldfield and Jean-Michel Jarre, I viewed my four track recorder as a mere quarter of a 16 track recorder. A very different perspective!

Thank you very much . Your instruction is very very clear, and easy to understand. But I still have some questions. (1) Is there any method to control fade-in vibrato time ? I don't like to play the instrument every note from the very beginning to the end with vibrato. If there is a mehod to control fade-in vibrato time (for example, 100 ms... or so), I guess the sound would be more natural. (2) What is "cut-off" ? and what is MFX effect ? This is my kowledge problem, not your fault. Your tutorial is perfect ! Thank you.

@unclemick-synths Жыл бұрын
Hi George, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. 1. Yes, you can set the Vibrato Delay in the Scene/Offset pages of the app (refer to the Parameter Guide). Unfortunately you will have to set this for each Part in each Scene that uses the automated vibrato. I will be covering those menus in my next video. 2. Cut-off frequency is a feature of a low-pass filter. It controls the brightness of the sound. In the video I was controlling it with Elevation and Breath. 3. The MFX effects are a set of effects that you can use on individual Tones in a scene. If you haven't watched them already, I recommend that you watch my first two videos in this series: Make A Scene and Fake Recorder.

@@unclemick-synths I solved this problem, but you'll never guess what the problem was. When I went to rename the scene, the "OK" box grayed out, which on every other application I've used indicates it isn't functional. However, that is not the case with the Editor. With the "OK" grayed out, I made changes to the name, clicked the "OK" which was still grayed out. The "OK" then went back to normal white. I clicked the "OK" button a second time and it stored the renamed file. Not the behavior I expected, but I can work with it. Thanks for your help.

I will be getting down to editing the partials and choosing the waveforms but I don't think there's a way to edit the actual waveforms themselves. Once I've finished digging through the AE's other features I'm going to look into the possibility of converting samples from other sources because I have no interest in Roland's keyboards - the AE-30 gives me all the ZEN-Core I need and consequently other synths are higher on my wishlist.

Hey just posting here regarding SP. I know you can't stand him and you did encourage his positive posting, it's nothing but a mask, he does this with Tim as Tim has shut him down a few times now. Tim is his last big channel that John posts on due to all the abuse he has given out to other channels. If you never saw the last SS stream, have a look and see how he behaved, John then turns on Nick because Nick never thanked John for the donations. Nick did, but by accident, but John wanted to control the show with anti Behringer discussions. Everything John does is negative, unless it's about himself. The comment I left was outing his fake subs, he was getting 100 per day, has grown his channel from 300 to 2.9K in less than a month, but he blames other people for doing this. This is his 23rd account, has had multiple DMCAs filed against him, his most recent one was with Espen Kraft. Even one of John's subs attacks Espen without knowing who he is, but Espen's friend pulls this sub up and an interesting exchange is made. John just likes stirring the pot, he has no positive bone in him.
