Also worked for me. Thank you! My issue was on the left side of the screen so I counted from the left side of the left ribbon. I used electric tape and needed two attempts. The first attempt failed because the tape wasn't covering the edge of the ribbon so I made it longer in the second try, which worked.

Just picked up a 55" TV with this issue for 20 bucks and fixed it in about an hour! Score! This model had much shorter ribbons down below in the center, and pins going in the opposite direction, but same basic principal! Thank you!!

This didn't work for me. I have the 55R617, which like other commenters have said looks different inside. It has one ribbon with two ends at the bottom of the screen near the IR sensor, each side of the ribbon has 80 pins. My flashing was on the right half of the screen when looking at the screen. I tried taping off pins 12 and 13 of the left connector, and when that didn't work I also tried 12 and 13 from the other side (still the left connector of the ribbon) but no dice.

Unbelievable! I thought for sure this was going to be a fools errand and sure enough, it friggin worked. Unreal. Thank you and I am now a subscriber
