I bought a hawk x back in the summer of 24. Discovered the rear flat about 2 months ago when I went to ride it. It must have busted on it's own sitting in the garage. That really was an eye opener thinking just what could have happened. Haven't fixed it yet because of paranoid about which new tube to get or should I replace the tires too. I guess Chinese lack of quality can be dangerous. It's a lesson learned.

You might want to think twice before buying a bigger bike. I've owned motorcycles since 1967, my first was a Honda S90. Since then I've had many bikes and all sizes. The quickest was a four cylinder 900 and even with many years of experience it scared me so bad on three differnt occasions I traded for a V-twin 750 which was much slower. I've had 500 cc, 600cc, a 1500cc, 750cc and four Harleys, a 96Ci, a 103 Ci and two 114 Ci. I will NEVER own another Harley. The last one broke down four times within the first year. So I bought something I can trust, a Kawasaki Eliminator SE and I LOVE it. My wife and I have rode over 350,000 miles in a fifteen year period, but she can no longer ride after battling cancer eight times and the last two surgeries crippled her to where she can no longeer walk. Besides that her bones are so thin and brittle from all the radiation if she did ride with me the ride would break her apart inside. So I bought something for me, my Eliminator SE. It has plenty of spunk, handles great, I think looks good, it is confortable, mine gets 65-66 MPG and the insurance is only $148 a year where my last Harley was $800 a year. The secret of talking long trips on a motorcycle is to stop every hour and a half and just take a break to get the vibes out. We would stop at a road side rest, or an over look, and our next stop to buy gas. We've put 500 miles on in one day and never got tired of it. We came home from the Virginia Beach area to SE Ohio one day and after I unpacked the bike I asked my wife what she wanted to do, and she said, let's go for a ride, so we did. The Eliminator can do it all, from lugging around town to highway speeds. I've only had mine to about 86 MPH and I did change the front spocket from a 14 toorh to a 15 tooth to lower the RPM's at highway speeds. This lowered them about 500 RPM at highway speeds. Mine will cruise at 80 all day long. But most of my trips I went between 65 and 70. I did install a Kawasaki rear carrier and a 29 liter Givi topcase to carry things. The 29 Liter looks great on the bike because it is narrow and just fits the bike well, but if I were to do any serious touring I would probably go to a larger topcase. I didn't want saddle bags on mine because I don't want people telling me it's a Harley want to be. I better close for now. It looks like I was writning a book. Ride safely and enjoy every journey. Any ride where you retuen home safe and sound is a GOOD ride. I hope you enjoy your Eliminator for many years to come. Buying bigger is a lot of times very disappointing. I've had more fun on my Eliminator since I bought it about two months ago than I've had in YEARS of ridng bigger bikes. And that is why we ride motorcycles, for the fun.

Riding is dangerous, but remember that we will all die one day. The way some of the more safety conscious riders talk about wearing gear and strictly following speed limits, wearing reflective vests, etc. you almost come away with the impression that they truly believe they can mitigate all risk out of the equation, which of course no one can. To me, this defeats the purpose of riding for pleasure entirely. There is no thrill without fear, there is no euphoria without risk. I'm not saying you should ride flat out all the time, or hop on a liter bike in a t shirt, shorts, and flip flops, then lane split at triple digit speeds, but there are people on the conservative side of the safety spectrum who take their points of view to equally ridiculous extremes. Great video. I enjoyed watching!

Thanks Matt, enjoyed your videos, you seem like a nice guy to ride with ! I'm thinking of getting the Eliminator, I just love how it looks. As It would be my sole bike, I have a couple of concerns, mainly if It could steadily and comfortably handle a 75-80 mph speed. Besides commuting, I would need to travel about 120 miles via highway x2 almost every weekend.
@Matthewsmith-2024
@Matthewsmith-2024 Ай бұрын
@AbdelhamidZekri91 Thank you! The eliminator can do highway 75-80. However, you will be pushing 6-7,000 rpms in 6th gear, which can be quite buzzy the longer you go. It doesn't redline till 11,000, so you've got room to play. I would give 30min to an hour on the highway before it starts to get rather uncomfortable. You could get a seat cover to take the vibrations down somewhat. In all honesty, I would probably recommend a bigger bike for longer highway rides. Like a Vulcan 650 or maybe a shadow Phantom. You'll be less vulnerable to the wind pushing u around at high speeds, and they'll be less buzzy. Best of luck finding your bike and be safe.

I went down my first season, pretty dramatically. Kept me off bikes for a few years. I just put 8,000 miles on my bike this year and over 8,000 miles last year. I completely agree that riding really doesn't feel as scary or dangerous once you've been riding for a while. I even have a GSX-R1000 and that thing doesn't scare me unless I want it to :) The thing I would say is that until you go down, you feel pretty invincible. After you go down, you definitely appreciate and respect the danger a lot more.

@halcyon_studio 100% agree. The closest I ever came to going down was when my rear tire blew up on my dual sport, going about 60mph. It scared the life outta me and took a good couple of months to feel normal while riding again. I can only imagine how much worse it'd be to actually go down. I'm glad you're ok and riding again. Fun fact: When the weather app gives you that percentage with the rain it doesn't mean the chances to rain. Let's say it says 20% rain in your area, that means that out of all of your area only 20% of it's surface area will have rain, NOT that are 20% chances to rain in that area.

You mentioned you were a big guy... May I ask height and weight? I'm 5'10" and 225. And for me the suspension jars me pretty hard. I upped the preload a couple notches, but I don't want it to be too stiff, since my wife is 100 pounds less. Where do you have yours set? I wouldn't mind upgrading the suspension to accommodate my weight , but don't want to do that if it won't be appropriate for her. So I might try a seat cushion of some sort to take the edge of a bit. Do bad roads jar you pretty bad? Otherwise I love the bike! Thanks for any feedback you have!

@jonathandayne I'm 6'3 at 230 the suspension could be better for sure. I just figured I was spoiled from riding dirt bikes my whole life. Haven't really moved my preload more than a noch from stock. I did recently get a seat cover to add a little more cushion for the longer rides, and so far, it's been fantastic. Also, great on cutting down the vibrations. That said, the bumps in the road still hit. I usually just shift my weight to the pegs if I can't avoid a bump outright.

Just looked into the 450 Guerrilla. It's a handsome bike for sure. In terms of fashion, I'd say they're about on par, but I am biased towards the eliminator. When you look at function. It really depends on what kind of riding you'll be doing. If you're mostly going to be on country roads cruising, either one would be excellent. The 450 Guerrilla might be a bit better in the suspension on the rougher roads. If you're wanting to venture on the highway from time to time. The eliminator would be better suited. As for the technology, I'm afraid I'm not the best one to ask. The dash & sat nav, and all seem cool, but as long as i have tac, speedo, and fule, I'm content. I just use my phone for everything else.

@Matthewsmith-2024
@Matthewsmith-2024 3 ай бұрын
@rajeevwx I would kind of agree. It depends on what you do and who you ride with. If you ride on the highway a lot and / or with people who like to go past cars like they're standing still, then yeah, you'll likely get tired of the eliminator quickly. If you do a lot of riding on long, twisty country roads, then you'll enjoy the eliminator for a lot longer. Personally, I go back and forth on if I want something faster or not. I usually just think I want something faster whenever people with faster bikes blow right past me on the highway, and I'm not going slow either. They'll just be doing like 110-120 😅

@rajeevwx I'm not sure I never rode the rebel. I imagine it's rather similar since they're both similar sized parallel twins. You can feel it on the tank and frame pretty well, but the pegs and handlebars do a good job suppressing vibrations. The seat does ok, but I did start to notice the vibrations after about an hour.
