Boom! Mine was running fat and bogging down. Thanks to your video I decided to try this before replacing piston/rings. My screen was blocked about 50% less than yours but it did affect the running. I used a propane torch to heat up the screen red an some compressed air to blow out the ash. Reinstalled and ran great. Thanks Again!!!!!

I seem to have stripped my main jet, meaning that I was trying to use a flathead driver (just like the video) to unscrew it, and the brass thing was so malleable that it bent and stripped. How do I get it out now? I ordered a replacement carb on Amazon thinking that would be easier, but even though it says it fits GCV160 it's not the same.
@davidcurnutt9584
@davidcurnutt9584 5 ай бұрын
If the main jet isn’t completely stripped you can try to use a blow torch on the stem that it sits in for about 10-20 seconds. Or a lighter for about a minute. The aluminum body will expand before the brass does allowing it to loosen a little to get out. This is a last ditch effort that if it doesn’t work, your carb is lost. Got to parts tree, or jacks small engines and look up the exact model of your Honda to find the exact replacement on Amazon.

The visual parts of this video are helpful, however for individuals who do not know how parts of the carburetor function, this video does not provide support for that type of individual. More comments explaining things like the 'Needle' how it goes in or other parts within the carburetor such as the emulsion tube - can it go in either direction or is it one direction only etc. etc. Details such as this are very helpful especially if you are putting out an instructional video you cannot assume that everybody has your experience. Overall it is a decent video giving average instructions on tearing it down.

Very helpful video, appreciated the trick of utilizing a threaded stud rod. The Honda GCV160 engine uses very long M6 bolts in the 83mm range which i had none, however had some M6 -1 in smaller lengths. I took four (4) 6-1x45mm bolts and cut the heads off, then welded four (4) remaining threaded rods in pairs of two (2) so that i ultimately had two (2) threaded rods one for each side. I confirmed compression & spark, drained and refilled gas as it was a bit funky, and thoroughly cleaned the carb using carb cleaner & welder/carb/torch wire tips. You can do the job without the threaded bolt, however just much easier making use of them. Appreciate the tip, cheers.

i cleaned all the holes except for the one with the screw it doesn't start still? think that's the issue? before it would only start on the run setting not the start but was getting hardly any water pressure out of the hose. and the small needle does the pointy rubber end face up or down?

Check the fuel cap for a vapor lock. If after 5 minutes of run time it dies and you unscrew the cap, does it sound like an inrush of air? If yes, replace the cap.

There is a low speed circuit on the top of the carb that usually has a screw on it that if you take it out, you can use carb spray to clean out all of its passages.
