The idea of deflecting opponent attack by protecting center line is great.

Never turn your blade inside your opposite arm. IMHO, this is just another example of dozens of self manufactured BCD forms that have bloomed from many of Yip Man students. Very Sad! I place most of the blame on YM himself and less on his followers. Just ny 2 cents.

The best protection against a person wielding a knife is an knife or a blunt object to create distance. A gun would be better but you could risk injuring innocent people around you. Most attackers will not attack you like you see in these demonstration videos. You also dont know anything about you attacker(fighting skills, on drugs etc...) the best training tool for knife drills is a marker. Reason being, you can see the the marks that could otherwise be deadly cuts without getting hurt.

I always wonder why the attacker is only changing angles when he wants to show that the techniques of other styles do not work 🤣

I am proud to post the fact that I was, with the late Master John Prichard Grandmaster Nick's first teacher. He was aged 13 at the time and attended our school in Leyland, Lancs. Our chief instructor at the time [1973 onwards] was Sifu Joseph Cheng, then after Sifu Cheng became unavailable John' secured a six-month intensive training session in Hong Kong with Grandmaster Leung Ting, after which we became the first club in Europe to open under the banner of Wing Chun Leung Ting Martial Arts Association .I was privileged to meet him again, after forty years, never knowing of his remarkable achievements, G.M. Nick and I are now firm friends, he is an incredible person who has, through great sacrifice achieved recognition as one of, if not the greatest, Westerner to rise to such heights, I am proud to call him my friend and Master.
Great video, I have never seen the broad sword or straight sword in Wing Chun. Those butterfly swords are the smallest I've ever seen.
