MPGe is used to compare the energy efficiency of vehicles that don't use liquid fuels, like electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. It's a more useful metric for comparing energy consumption than MPG because it accounts for the different ways vehicles use energy. This is not the combined electric and ice motor number, it is the electric only motor score.

I bought one. Love it it about drives itself. I got the premier diesel. It's got all options. Grandkids love the tv. The cruise control once set slows down if the car in front of you slows. It keeps you in the lane for you. The vehicle won't move if a person steps in front or in back of you in a parking lot. Driving is like a dream. I've not used the four wheel drive yet.

Is it worth the $20k premium over the E450 that has air suspension and 4.5 degree rear steering that the E53 doesn't get?

If you are in the US the Airmatic suspension and 4.5 degree steering on E450 are part of the $3200 AIRMATIC package. The E53 has standard 2.5 degree rear wheel steering and air ride control. Is it worth it? Depends. If you don't care about performance (200 hp more) gas mileage, all electric drive range and wider body design than probably not. To me would be worth it but 17K is a lot of money.

@ Thanks for the insight. I have an E550 and I resist getting a new E-class because I’d lose the V8. And the E53 is nearing 5300 lbs which is nuts.

I don’t know how Lexus or anybody else call this an suv of any kind. I like the vehicle but it’s literally a hatchback compact car. There’s no universe where calling the ux an suv is honest marketing… just my opinion

Nice review. I upgraded from my 2019 C43 by factory ordering a fully optioned one last July in Moonlight White metallic & took delivery of it last Saturday & it was worth the wait. Upgraded AMG 20” wheels offer a smoother/quieter ride vs the 21” & look just as nice. The included MB AC charger is inferior with a _very_ slow charge time & needs to be upgraded to a better Level 2 charger with a much faster charge time. Love it!

Its basically a Transporter. Same floorpan. Id prefer the transporter as an EV. Less style, way more usable space without " design" plastics

Hybrid. EV mode only gives you the electric motor hp which is not a lot.

Going to test drive one of these on Friday, followed by a Cadillac CT5V Blackwing. I expect the Caddy to be more emotionally resonant with that wicked V8 and crazy handling/suspension, but the E53 to be far more luxurious and better built. I tend to value the latter more. They are within a $1000 of each other in MSRP.

You should have tried in also in full EV mode. This car can go 100km in pure EV! You have an AMG on the freeway and mountain roads and a Tesla in the city and when going through towns. Just waiting for the wagon before putting my deposit on one! I'm in Canada and apparently the wagon is on it's way ... fall timeframe ... Canada only.

@@MattTheCarguy Then, is this a false advertisement? because it says it is an AMG, even in the badge, and I bet for insurance purposes, companies are charging for AMG for the increased performance.

@@samweb7486 not really, AMG has been enhancing engine performance for years. Of course the "real" AMG engines are hand build by one technician and get their signature, but there are also models that are "AMG enhanced" Since AMG has sone tunes and performance modifications on them it is not false advertising. As far as insurance they base their rates on cost to repair or replace not on the name.

Had a RAV4 limited hybrid, sadly in an accident. Finally settled with insurance and should be picking up my NXh 350 soon. Our trims are different in Canada. I have the Luxury trim but different than US. It’s similar to yours but has pano roof, 14” info screen, no 360 camera 😢 Eminent white and roijo red interior.

This past September I bought a 2025 GV70 2.5T Sport Prestige with this Sevilla Red leather interior and the Savile silver exterior. I love it. Such a luxurious and high-quality experience. The interior is reminiscent of vintage 1950’s Cadillac or Lincoln interiors, especially the dash and trim. I drove Mercedes C300 and GLC300 since 2008. The GV70 is so well-designed and well-built that it got me to switch away from Mercedes after 16 consecutive years.

Please use the parking brake! When you park your car, you should first put on the parking brake, put the car into neutral, then let it roll back/forward so the weight of the car is on the parking brake. *Then* you can put on the transmission into park, and shut off the car. You want to do this because the way the transmission goes into park, it pretty much uses a hook called a parking pawl. If you only rely on the parking pawl, it will eventually snap or somehow break, damaging the transmission. At the least, put on the parking brake at all. Seeing you hop into the car and have it roll at 7:05 hurt the little mechanic in my head.

@@Hachiro honestly i've been driving for 35 years and only used parking bakes on manual transmission cars or when parked on hills. The P gear must be pretty tough as I haven't snapped one yet. But you are correct. Thats what should be done.
