Have you checked for voltage drop to the fridge, what grade wire did you use to run your anderson, with the caravan unplugged from the mains take your lower fridge vent off and check your supply and earth on the 12v side there will be 3 positive connections, one from your caravan battery, will be there whether or not your plugged into your anderson, this supplies power to your fridge display and lights inside, one will be when your trailer plug is plugged in and engine is running (D+) and one when your anderson is connected, this one needs to have good voltage at the fridge, you should see over 12volts at the fridge when its plugged in. Check voltage at the battery, then again at your socket, then again at your fridge, its a long run and with the wrong gauge wire you will drop voltage, this could be your issue. My caravan has an inline fuse on the drawer bar for the fridge also, check that's ok, you will know because there will be no voltage at your fridge connections behind your vent. Here's a basic wiring diagram which may help you dometicrvcentre.com.au/documentmanager/item/681 mine is wired as in figure 1

@@Richard-Tanya Thanks for that. So the original and factory anderson plug is wired thru the ignition I have just tried running it off a anderson plug connected directly from the battery (its for the esc) and works fine then i started the car and went into error again. I think it is the complicated ford ranger electronics Thank you very much for what u have given me
@Richard-Tanya
@Richard-Tanya 10 күн бұрын
@ check that your power outlet between the rear seats (in the rear of the center consol) is working, if your ranger has been wired the same as mine it seems the D+ is taken from this circuit, if it doesn't work then the fuse is blown..

You're kidding? You don't have a voltage sensing relay to prevent your car starting battery being drained by both your house battery and fridge! What a half-baked solution! You'll end up with more problems than you fixed!
@Richard-Tanya
@Richard-Tanya 20 күн бұрын
My starting battery is charged via a dc/dc charger so there is no need for a voltage sensing relay, yes a voltage sensing relay would work well to stop having to disconnect when parked up, however I don't have a problem with simply unplugging and switching over to gas when parked up. When I finally run the second anderson to the back of the car I will change the plug colours and put it on a VSR, but this works just fine in the meantime :) Thanks for your input.

I took delivery of my Rexton Ultimate December 2023 and currently sitting on 18000kms. Done significant towing of my Coromol 22ft van and found the power to be very good with great fuel consumption. VERY comfortable drive. My ONLY complaint is cap price service disappointment..... quoted standard 30000km service this month (2 year service) I have to pay extra for the front diff oil and fuel filter replacement. Although it has only done 18000km I have to do the 2 year 30000km service. This adds +$300 to the"capped price" service price. NEVER had this with my other capped price car services. Anyone else had this issue? Would appreciate some feedback. Happy with EVERYTHING EXCEPT this false capped price claim. When I questioned why the oil needs replacement after 18000kms, they said I do not need to buy will lose my warranty on that component! Cheers Luke

Just another note of interest for all, before i started my work here which was all donated for free for the last now 11 months, the total donations for 10 years was a bit over $400, since i started all my work we have received another $2,000 and this is the money that has paid for the toilets to be cleaned out and soon to be all painted, ( Cost us heaps of $$$ ) left over money ( Change ) is going towards table's and seats for some spots around the reserve as we get more donations in, I highly recommend this Freshwater Lake Reserve, 7K's North of Dunkeld to all 🙂 I love Australia and now work for free to make this place great for all to enjoy. Regards Mick Williams.

The freshwater Lake Reserve is taken care by me, in the last 10 months I have brought $30,000 in machines and I pay out of my own pocket for all the fuel and servicing etc ( Currently this year it has cost me $8,000+ ) I do all the work and get no help from anyone, ( there is a total of 10 committee members ? ) I myself have spent 10 months straight getting this total weed infested land up to what it is now, it still needs heaps of work but I am the only person doing all the work, ( all peoples poo & toilet paper picked up by me ) I cut and supply all the wood around at the camps, I personally paid for lights at the toilets and pay out of my own pocket for the hand sanitizer & some of the toilet paper, I have done over 600 hours work at the Lake for free as I said, the lookout was added by me, I have cleaned up all around the lake with whipper snipper and chainsaw of dangerous limbs many, many times, I personally paid for all star pickets and green pine posts to try and stop people driving up to the lookout and also used in other places around the lake, I brought in many, many loads of dirt and gravel with my tipper trailer each trip was 60k's there and back. I get zero help from other committee members as there just not interested in keeping it as clean and tidy as I have been doing, but they are very interested in the donation money they are getting because of all my free work, at this point with out help from other's I don't think the Lake will be taken care of next year sadly as other committee members have a agenda that is not inline with %99 of fellow Australians, This lake is Crown Land which means you can camp here and also have fires, but the current committee want to restrict this which I am not at all happy about, I started doing all this to help the Dunkeld businesses out and give Aussie locals & travellers a place that is tidy and clean for everyone to enjoy. I went passed your camp and remember seeing you as I am at the Lake most days of the week, I would like to thank you for your drone footage it makes me proud to know all the before and then your footage and your review that things I myself have achieved in 10 months. Regards Mick Williams.

When you turned your power back on, the 12v water pump came on. Just curious how long the switch was off for, as the pump coming on to rebuild the pressure may indicate a small water leak. Also thanks for the tip on securing the roll out pantry.

The water pump had been off since the last time the van was used, probably a few weeks at least, as you saw in the video the first thing I did was switch the pump off again on the tablet, but yes, you are right it should hold pressure for a while, I always crack my taps open to release the pressure when not using the van :) Thats why the pump ran up for a bit, thanks for pointing it out, it could indicate a problem in some cases, thanks for watching and commenting.

50km/h in VIC applies to a “built up zone”. That doesn’t look like a built up zone. Copper is exploiting a loop hole in SA law. He would sit off that spot everyday. Changing the world, one intercept at a time.

Brilliant idea regarding the filter, adding the brass connections. We do plan on doing a similar thing when we get our van next year, so thanks for the tip regarding brass. As for the stone protection, we plan on sticking to sealed roads, but this is Australia, so there's likely to be road works for the last (and next) 6 months on some sections of highway, throwing you on poorly, or unsealed roads for anything up to a few km at a time. It only takes one rock in the wrong place to crack a water pipe, smack an electrical cable, or even hit the handle of a tank drain, leaving you with big issues. Simple split conduit protection of electrical cables, split foam insulation on water pipes, mudflaps at the front of the van, and strategic underbody stone guards made from shade cloth can cost just a few hundred dollars in total, but extend the life of the exposed parts massively, and thus give you a higher chance of a problem-free holiday. I do like your idea of metal valves as well. Oh and you earned a new subscriber too - thanks for the video

@Richard-Tanya

Hi, thanks for commenting/watching, The fridge cannot pull amps from the caravan battery as the Y lead goes straight to my Victron 100/50 DC DC charger and there is no voltage on the input side until it is plugged into the car, however you do need to disconnect the anderson from the car when parking up for any overnight or extended stops as it will pull current from your car battery if left connected :)

Do you think it will draw enough air around the front? There is not much air gap for it to pull air, and the fans will prevent air coming in from outside.
@Richard-Tanya
@Richard-Tanya 5 ай бұрын
it does actually draw quite well, you can actually feel the air being pushed out from outside the van, i did use a smoking candle to check if air was being drawn around the front and it was. I guess time will tell, can't be any worse than the standard Swift microwave which overheated and broke down when it was used on a warm 38-degree day. I was dubious to start with but after checking the temperatures around it using the convection oven and microwave, I'm much more confident now. Thanks for the comment :)
