I forgot to mention as far as the tanks, I have two with the tank behind the seat. I never smell gas or anything. I’ve heard people say that but it’s a sealed tank with the vent being in the cap outside the truck. The only way you could smell fumes would be if there was a leak somewhere letting fumes out. You can still get the 19 gallon tank and the 38 gallon tank that mounts behind the rear axle but the sending unit is only available for the 19 gallon tank. You have to modify the sending unit to use it in the 38 gallon tank. If you want to get rid of the in cab tank then I’d say the side mount tank would be your best bet.

Repeat if necessary. But it works good for me.

@@kevincrile9056 You need precise measurements to determine the caster and camber. On the Comet 202 I put an FE in I had to use a torch there and a BFH to get the proper angle for the Caster and Camber and I welded a reinforcement plate behind because the torch anneals the tower. Down an inch and back 1/4 makes sure flex doesn’t cause bump steer. And though I like the 9 inch rear, the low pinion eats power. An 8.8 with coils and a 3 link with a panhard bar along with a torque arm from the top of the 3rd member to the top of the trans gives it a limber yet firm rear caster. PCV valves don't make your engine run cleaner, unless if you trust everything the engineering manual says. Putting on a catch can is the best way to go. Keeps the engine and environment clean. And when neglected, they either cause lean-idle conditions, or your rear main seal to blow out.

Don't pull vacuum on the crank case, it will drop your oil pressure. You are barely pulling any vacuum, just pulling fresh air from the breather side down and up the other side to get the blow-by combustion gasses out so they dont foul the oil. If you had both sides routed to vacuum, you'd hear a weird noise from the air squeaking past the crank seals into the sump.

Thing is ,don't mess with the pcv setup on a newer Briggs. One of the tests to check for a bad head gasket dumping compression into the crankcase, or bad rings and the like is to put a vacuum gauge on the oil filler tube. If she's good , a v twin should pull like 12-14 inches of vacuum. You can open the drain plug while they're running and no oil comes out. Good video as always, what are the steps you take for retorquing the rocker arms back on?
@itllrun603019 күн бұрын
Usually I set them on and then start the bolts. (making sure I have the oil tray thing on and making sure the bolts are in the correct place. FEs have one bolt with a narrower shank than the rest and that bolt has to go in the hole with the oil passage next to it.) After all the bolts are started I turn all the rockers to engage the pushrods and make sure they all stay in the cups the whole time I'm tightening them. Then I'll go a quarter turn at a time evenly with a box end wrench until they are all seated against the head. Then I'll grab my torque wrench and torque them to 45 ft lbs. Usually by the time they are seated it doesn't take more than a half turn to get them to spec. It's also worth noting that if the heads haven't been used in a while I'd be sure and run a thread chaser on the holes just to make sure they are clean. You also need to verify that the rocker shaft isn't bent. I've had that problem before. You can either set them down on some concrete or something flat with the stands on. If you can rock them side to side that is bad. The shaft is likely bent. If it's bent it will cause uneven and weird preload on the lifters which will cause all kinds of bad things. You can also do that to just the shaft if you take them apart. FE rockers are most certainly a lot of work!!

The edelbrock performer rpm is a great intake for the money. But if you keep your eyes peeled on marketplace I’m sure you could find something good too. If you don’t mind spending a little money on a book, I would highly recommend Jay Brown’s Ford FE Intake Comparo. It’s an awesome book. Nothing wrong with putting it one the engine. It helps things stay cleaner. PCV was a emission and cleanliness thing. It used to be a pipe that went down to the bottom of the car next to the engine that dirtied up things pretty bad. I used to see ring bypass smoke coming out of it along with the occasional drop of oil on a good engine. A wore out engine would have a lot of smoke and oil dripping out. One of the downsides of today's direct injection engines without the added intake injectors to clean the intake runner area cause the intake valves to coke up. People should run a catch can if the engine doesn't have intake injectors. If you pull a vacuum on the inside of the engine the air is thinner and has less resistance for rotating and flopping parts along with better ring seal. I also heard there are less gasses in the oil introducing bubbles to the bearings. I didn't dig in to that one. I'm not sure how pulling a crankcase vacuum seal the rings better since, both, the cylinder wall and the piston side of the ring share almost the same crankcase pressure. The oil control grove in the piston has vent holes. A great side effect is little to no oil leaks. That is until you blow the piston down in to the crankcase from too much NOS. It gets very noisy for a couple seconds along with oil everywhere and a pissed off track manager.
